Denver Nuggets vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction NBA Picks 10/29/24
Nuggets at Nets at 7:30 PM ET
The Denver Nuggets experienced a challenging beginning to the season; however, their spirits have improved significantly following a hard-fought 127-125 overtime victory against the Raptors last night. Nikola Jokic was the standout performer, contributing 40 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists on an impressive 18 of 27 shooting. Additionally, Jamal Murray and Christian Braun each added 17 points, while Aaron Gordon recorded 16 points, along with 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Similarly, the Brooklyn Nets have encountered a rough start, losing their first two games of the season. Nonetheless, they secured a surprising home victory against the Bucks, triumphing 115-102 on Sunday. Cam Thomas emerged as the leading scorer with 32 points, shooting 10 of 21. Dennis Schroder also made a substantial impact, contributing 29 points along with six assists. Cam Johnson and Noah Clowney each chipped in with 13 points. However, Dorian Finney-Smith's performance was less impressive, as he recorded only three points on one of eight shooting attempts.
The Pick:
The Nets performed poorly in their initial two games, both of which resulted in losses; however, they displayed a markedly improved performance in their surprising victory against the Bucks. While I might have considered backing the Nets had the point spread been more favorable, the narrow line compels me to remain with the Nuggets, even though they are competing in the second game of a back-to-back schedule.
Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction NBA Picks 10/29/24
Mavericks at Timberwolves at 7:30 PM ET
The Dallas Mavericks have demonstrated a solid start to the season, having won two of their first three games. They are keen to continue this trend after achieving a 110-102 victory over the Jazz at home last night. Kyrie Irving led the scoring with 23 points and provided nine assists. Klay Thompson contributed significantly with 18 points, including four three-pointers, while Luka Doncic added 15 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists to the team's efforts. However, it is important to mention that Doncic struggled with his shooting, finishing with five successful field goals out of 22 attempts and only one out of nine from three-point range.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to chase their third consecutive win after defeating the undermanned Raptors with a score of 112-101 on Saturday. Julius Randle was instrumental in the victory, leading the team with 24 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Anthony Edwards also shone brightly, contributing 24 points along with six rebounds and four assists. Donte DiVincenzo added 16 points from the bench, while Rudy Gobert recorded a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks.
The Pick:
Although the Mavericks have not begun the season with remarkable intensity, they successfully found their rhythm with a determined win over the Jazz last night, despite Doncic's lackluster shooting. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, arrive at this contest in a more favorable position, with Julius Randle excelling for his new team. I am confident that the Timberwolves will secure the win and cover the spread, given the current circumstances.
Sacramento Kings vs Utah Jazz Prediction NBA Picks 10/29/24
Kings at Jazz at 9 PM ET
The Sacramento Kings faced a loss against the Lakers but triumphed over the Trail Blazers. They are currently averaging 118 points per game with a shooting accuracy of 47.8 percent, while their opponents score an average of 115.3 points at a shooting rate of 47.5 percent. DeMar DeRozan is the leading scorer with an average of 24 points and 4 rebounds, while Domantas Sabonis follows with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The Kings have a three-point shooting percentage of 37 percent and an impressive free-throw percentage of 85.9. On the defensive end, they allow 35.8 percent shooting from three-point range and average 36.7 rebounds per game.
The Utah Jazz have suffered losses to the Mavericks and the Warriors. They are currently averaging 104 points per game with a shooting accuracy of 38.3 percent, while their opponents are scoring an average of 121 points at a rate of 46.9 percent. Lauri Markkanen is the standout player, averaging 21.7 points and 8.7 rebounds, while Collin Sexton contributes 17 points and 2.7 rebounds. Jordan Clarkson is the third player to achieve double-digit scoring, and John Collins is averaging 2.3 assists. The team’s three-point shooting stands at 28.2 percent, and they are converting 77 percent of their free throws. On the defensive end, the Jazz allow 35.8 percent shooting from three-point territory and average 48 rebounds per game.
The Pick:
The Sacramento Kings are encountering defensive difficulties, yet their offensive performance is commendable. They have secured 6 wins in their last 7 meetings with the Jazz, with most of those games not being particularly competitive. If the Kings aim to advance to the playoffs, it is crucial for them to win these types of games. On the other hand, the Jazz are struggling to define their team early in the season and have recently lost Hendricks to a severe injury. I will place my confidence in the Kings to cover the points.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Golden State Warriors Prediction NBA Picks 10/29/24
Pelicans at Warriors at 10 PM ET
The New Orleans Pelicans triumphed over the Bulls and managed to split their matchups with the Trail Blazers. At present, the Pelicans are scoring an average of 110.3 points with a shooting accuracy of 43.9 percent, while they concede 113 points at a rate of 45.4 percent shooting by their opponents. CJ McCollum is averaging 23.3 points along with 2.7 rebounds, and Brandon Ingram is contributing 22.7 points and 7.7 rebounds. The team’s three-point shooting stands at 34.7 percent, and they are converting 77.6 percent of their free throws. On the defensive end, the Pelicans allow 34.9 percent shooting from three-point territory and collect an average of 41.7 rebounds per game.
The Golden State Warriors secured a victory against the Jazz but suffered a defeat to the Clippers. Currently, the Warriors are averaging 124 points per game with a shooting percentage of 47.7, while they permit 101 points at a shooting percentage of 39.1. Andrew Wiggins contributes an average of 19.7 points and 2.3 assists, whereas Buddy Hield averages 19 points and 3 assists. The team is making 38.3 percent of their three-point attempts and 74.1 percent of their free throws. Additionally, the Warriors are allowing opponents to shoot 25 percent from three-point range and are collecting an average of 54.7 rebounds per game.
The Pick:
Given that the Golden State Warriors are not particularly deep, I find little excitement in their prospects without Curry and possibly Wiggins. The New Orleans Pelicans have the potential to be a strong team in the Western Conference, and they should seize opportunities such as this one. The betting line is favorable, and I lack confidence in the Warriors' performance without their leading player. While it is early in the season, this matchup represents a critical win for the Pelicans if they aim to establish themselves as legitimate contenders in the West. Consequently, I will favor the Pelicans.
