Over on the Cajuns’ side, they were able to dispatch Lamar pretty easily in their opener 38-7. Louisiana took their first loss of the year in game two versus USC 49-30, however. Over the next three games, the Cajuns powered out victories over UAB, Charlotte and Arkansas. Through the first five games that would amount to a solid 4-1 record for Louisiana.
Matched up against LA Tech last weekend the Cajuns fought through a wild second quarter for a 13-10 halftime deficit. Louisiana was up 31-19 in the final frame but then gave up a couple TDs in an eventual 32-31 loss. QB Lunch Winfield was 14-of-24 for 239 yards, one TD and two picks. JJ Garner led the rush with seven carries for 36 yards and a touchdown.

As for Troy, they bombed 662 total yards, 437 rush yards, 33 first downs and 8-of-14 on third downs alongside 39:22 in time of possession during their win over Southern Miss. The defense gave up 29 first downs and 512 yards but also had three takeaways alongside a 2-of-8 success rate allowed on thirds. Troy can give Louisiana some trouble here if the Trojans play well.
