Texas Longhorns Betting Preview
This year the Longhorns’ first outing was a pretty routine matchup versus Texas State. In that one Texas jumped out to a 28-7 halftime lead, then added 21 more points in the third quarter during a 59-7 win. In game two versus Ohio State, Texas was down 23-3 by the end of the third quarter. The Longhorns surged from there on 21 unanswered points in a crazy comeback win 24-23.
Last weekend versus UTSA, the Longhorns were able to build up a 20-3 advantage by the end of the first half. Texas ended up scoring in every quarter along the way to a 30-6 victory on their home turf. QB Arch Manning was 17-of-33 for 164 yards and two scores while also rushing nine times for 50 yards. Tops in receiving was Cam Coleman with four grabs for 59 yards and two TDs.
Tennessee Volunteers Betting Preview
Over on the Tennessee side, they got started this year with a matchup versus Furman. The Vols posted 21 points in both the second and third quarters, scoring in every frame during a 56-9 blowout victory at home. As for game two, that one was against Georgia Tech. Tennessee posted 17 points in the second quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter during a 45-24 win.
Matched up against Kennesaw State for game three, the Vols were ahead comfortably by the start of the third quarter on a 21-3 advantage. Tennessee added 21 more points from there in a 42-9 victory. Faizon Brandon was 18-of-26 for 178 yards and a touchdown. Daune Morris carried 14 times for 116 yards and a touchdown as the team’s leading rusher.

Texas vs Tennessee Prediction
I’ll go with Tennessee here, but it’s anyone’s guess how this game will shake out. Regardless it’ll be one of the most notable matchups on the weekend slate. In any case, the Vols bagged 446 yards (268 rushing) with 6.7 yards per play and 26 first downs in their win over Kennesaw State. The third-down conversions (4-of-10) could have been a bit better but that’s about the only gripe. Defensively Tennessee gave up 291 yards with 18 first downs and 5-of-13 on third downs. It was a pretty stress-free win.
As for Texas, they’re coming off a stress-free win of their own—a sharp contrast to that Ohio State game. The Longhorns hung 400 yards (228 rushing) and 27 first downs on UTSA during their victory. The defense gave up just 142 yards, nine first downs and a 1-of-11 success rate on third-down tries. Texas will have their hands full matching up with the Volunteers on the road, but if all goes well they’ll walk out with a win. I could easily see the Longhorns dropping this game though, so it’ll be a fun one to watch.
