Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

Ole Miss has only gotten through four games so far, but they’ve already got a couple of big wins in the bag. The Rebels started out with a 41-38 win over Louisville, then had no issues with Charlotte in game two. Ole Miss won that matchup with the 49ers 41-9. Another big game came versus LSU, and Ole Miss posted another big win 32-24 to go 3-0 in their first trio.

Back on September 26 versus Florida however, the Rebels’ run came to an end. Ole Miss was active on the scoreboard all the way into the third quarter and trailed just 24-21 at one point. The Rebels faded from there however and ended up losing 52-28. QB Trinidad Chambliss was 25-of-34 for 298 yards, one TD and one pick while also posting 44 rush yards with two more scores.

Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview

Over on the Vanderbilt side, they’ve gotten through five games this season so far. The Commodores kicked things off with three straight wins, taking out Austin Peay 28-9 in the opener, Delaware 35-26 in game two and NC State 35-31 back on September 19. Game four was Vanderbilt’s first loss though, as they fell 22-15 versus Auburn to slip to 3-1 overall.

Matched up against Georgia last weekend the Commodores traded touchdowns in the first quarter and managed to go into halftime trailing by just seven points 21-14. That was the last time Vanderbilt would visit the scoreboard though, as they lost 38-14. Blaze Berlowitz was 12-of-23 for 190 yards, one TD and one pick while also leading the rush with 37 yards on eight totes.

Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt Prediction

I’ll stay with Ole Miss. The Rebels were able to hang in there during a tough road matchup versus Florida but didn’t quite have enough steam to close things out. Ole Miss gave up 27 first downs and 498 yards with no takeaways in the defeat. The offense had a couple of turnovers while amassing 426 yards and 25 first downs. The 4-of-11 on third downs and eight team penalties for 69 yards could have been better. Still, with the extra week of rest and prep the Rebels should be ready here.

As for Vanderbilt, they ran into the brick wall of Georgia in a road loss last weekend. The Commodores could only find 13 first downs, 293 yards and a 5-of-12 success rate on thirds. The Bulldogs gained 471 yards with 26 first downs on the other side. Vanderbilt has a very difficult schedule this year and they’ve got another tricky one coming up this weekend.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Ole Miss Rebels -10.5
