Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

The Rebels got off to a nice start right out of the gate this year. Ole Miss took wins in each of their first three games, dispatching Louisville, Charlotte and LSU in succession. The Rebels would take their first loss of the year 52-28 versus Florida, but then bounced back with a win over Vanderbilt on the road in the next outing. In five games that gave the Rebels a 4-1 mark.

In the Missouri matchup the Rebels scored a couple of touchdowns in the second quarter and went into the break with a 21-3 edge. Ole Miss cruised from there and eventually won it 31-3 in dominant fashion. QB Trinidad Chambliss had a 20-of-36 line for 241 yards and three scores. Kewan Lacy was the leading rusher in the win with 16 carries for 122 yards.

Texas Longhorns Betting Preview

Over on the Longhorns’ side, they also hit a win streak in their first handful of games. Texas beat Texas State in the opener, then eked past Ohio State in game two. The Longhorns followed that up with wins over UTSA and Tennessee in the next pair. Texas took their first loss of the season versus Oklahoma though, giving the team a 4-1 start through five.

Matched up against Florida last Saturday the Longhorns jumped out to a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and were up by a TD at the break. Texas stalled after halftime though and eventually lost a tough one 27-24. QB Arch Manning was 14-of-20 for 173 yards and a touchdown. Emmett Mosley caught two balls for 76 yards as the top receiver.

Ole Miss vs Texas Prediction

I’ll stay with Ole Miss. The Rebels looked very good against a talented Missouri team last weekend, racking up 498 yards, 27 first downs and 9-of-14 on third downs. Ole Miss’ defense allowed 17 first downs with 378 total yards on the other side, minimizing the damage quite well. The Rebels have scored 28 or more points in all six games this year with 31 or more in all five wins.

As for Texas, they stalled out offensively in their loss to Florida, posting 272 yards, 13 first downs and a 2-of-10 success rate on third downs. The Longhorns gave up 21 first downs and 313 total yards on the other side, staying out on the field for 38:11 on defense. That makes consecutive 27-24 losses, and Texas is in for another tough matchup here.
