Illinois Fighting Illini Betting Preview
The Illini opened up the year at 2-1, taking wins over UAB and Southern Illinois around a four-point loss to Duke. Illinois followed that up with a 2-2 run, falling to Ohio State and Purdue ahead of wins versus Michigan State and Oregon. Over seven games so far that gives the Illini a 4-3 record in the books.
In the Oregon game last weekend the Illini were down 10-0 at one point early but added a TD to the scoreboard for a 10-7 halftime deficit. Illinois got into the end zone twice more in the second half and rode the wave to a 21-10 victory. Maryland Terrapins Betting Preview
Over on the Maryland side, they were looking good after their first two games, taking out Hampton and UConn. The Terrapins have since lost five straight games, though. Those defeats have come to Virginia Tech, UCLA, Nebraska, Ohio State and Rutgers in succession. As a result Maryland is sitting at 2-5 through seven games this year.
Matched up against Rutgers back on October 17, the Terrapins rolled through a wild first half on the way to a 23-13 lead at the break. Maryland gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns though, and eventually lost 37-30 in a tough outcome. Illinois vs Maryland Prediction
I’ll stick with Illinois. The Illini put up a solid effort against a pretty good Oregon team last weekend, though it was a weird one statistically. Illinois posted just 15 first downs and 89 pass yards while rushing for 225 yards and going 8-of-16 on third-down tries. The defense gave up 426 yards on the other side but did a good job on thirds (4-of-15). Illinois has 38 or more points in three of their four wins this year.
As for Maryland, they notched 378 yards, 19 first downs and a 4-of-13 success rate on third downs in the loss to Rutgers. The Terrapins D surrendered 442 yards, 291 pass yards, 28 first downs and 9-of-14 on third downs. That makes 35 or more points given up by Maryland during each installment of this current five-game losing streak.
