The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Pittsburgh Panthers will meet Saturday night in an ACC matchup at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets enter Saturday night’s contest with a 2-5 overall record (2-3 home record, 0-2 mark on the road and a 1-3 record in ACC play). The Yellow Jackets have struggled recently, losing three of the team’s last four games, including a 49-27 loss to Boston College Eagles last week.

The Georgia Tech offense has been respectable this season. Through seven games played in 2026, the Yellow Jackets are averaging 26.7 points and 378.7 total yards per game. Georgia Tech has accumulated 255.3 passing yards and 123.4 rushing yards per contest.

Unfortunately, the defensive side of the football has been a problem for Georgia Tech. More specifically, the Yellow Jackets are allowing opponents 30.3 points and 407.6 total yards per game. Even more concerning, Georgia Tech is allowing a massive 210.4 rushing yards per contest which ranks an abysmal 131st in the nation.

Junior quarterback Alberto Mendoza has compiled 1,714 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns while completing 71.2 percent of his passes. Talented running back Justice Haynes has added 515 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, while sophomore wide receiver Jordan Allen has accumulated 42 receptions, 517 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Pittsburgh Panthers Betting Preview

The Pittsburgh Panthers enter Saturday night’s matchup with a 5-3 overall record (4-1 record at home, 1-2 mark on the road and a 2-3 record in ACC play). The Panthers arrive at this contest on the heels of a three-game losing streak, including a 52-23 loss to the Miami Hurricanes earlier this month.

Pittsburgh has been one of the better offensive teams in the country this season. The Panthers are averaging 31.6 points and 444.3 total yards per game, including 290.8 passing yards per contest.

Defensively, Pittsburgh has been excellent against the run. The Panthers rank second nationally in rushing defense, allowing only 65 rushing yards per game. Pittsburgh is also surrendering just 20.9 points per contest this season.

Sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel has amassed 1,304 yards, 14 touchdowns, 112 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Freshman running back Damon Ferguson Jr. has tallied 477 yards and four touchdowns, while talented wide receiver Cataurus Hicks has emerged as one of the Panthers top playmakers accumulating 31 receptions, 649 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Why the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will win.

• Quarterback play. Junior quarterback Alberto Mendoza has compiled 1,714 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns while completing 71.2 percent of his passes.

• Passing offense. Georgia Tech is averaging 255.3 passing yards per game.

• Enhanced motivation. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have lost three of the team’s last four games.

Why the Pittsburgh Panthers will win.

• Offensive production. Pittsburgh is averaging 31.6 points and 444.3 total yards per game.

• Elite run defense. The Panthers rank second nationally, allowing only 65 rushing yards per contest.

• Quarterback play. Sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel has amassed 1,304 yards, 14 touchdowns, 112 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Panthers Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Pittsburgh Panthers. Why? Pittsburgh’s strengths align perfectly with Georgia Tech’s weaknesses. The Panthers own the nation’s second ranked rushing defense, allowing only 65 rushing yards per game, while the Yellow Jackets ranka dreadful 113th nationally in rushing offense.

Additionally, Pittsburgh signal caller Mason Heintschel has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the nation, throwing 14 touchdown passes and only one interception. I envision a contest where Heintschel finds offensive opportunities against a Georgia Tech defense that is allowing 30.3 points per contest. With that said, I am backing the Pittsburgh Panthers to cover the 6.5 points in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Pittsburgh Panthers -6.5
