The Florida Atlantic Owls and the Army Black Knights will meet Saturday afternoon in an American Athletic Conference matchup at Michie Stadium in West Point, New York. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

The Florida Atlantic Owls enter Saturday’s matchup with a 4-1 overall win-loss record (3-0 record at home, 1-1 mark on the road), including victories over Navy, FIU, Louisiana-Monroe and Texas Southern. The Owls arrives at this contest on the heels of a four-game winning streak, including a dominant 66-10 win over Texas Southern in the team’s most recent outing two weeks ago.

The Florida Atlantic offense has been productive through five games played in 2026. The Owls are averaging 37.2 points per game while generating 420.4 total yards per contest. Florida Atlantic has accumulated 304.0 passing yards and 116.4 rushing yards per game this season.

Shifting our focus to the defensive side of the football, Florida Atlantic has struggled at times, allowing 26.6 points and 403.6 total yards per game. Examining the data just presented more closely, the Owls have surrendered 237.6 passing yards and 166.0 rushing yards per contest.

Through five games played in 2026, talented quarterback Caden Veltkamp has compiled 1,427 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns while surrendering just two interceptions. Sophomore running back Ethan Ervin has tallied 315 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, while wide receiver Kelby Valsin has amassed 40 receptions, 512 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

Army Black Knights Betting Preview

The Army Black Knights enter Saturday afternoon’s contest with a 3-2 overall record (2-1 record at home, 1-1 mark on the road), including recent wins over the Temple Owls and the Tulane Green Wave.

The Army offense continues to operate one of the nation’s most effective rushing attacks. The Black Knights are averaging 30.6 points and 415.8 total yards per game while leading the nation with 333.2 rushing yards per contest. Army is averaging only 82.6 passing yards per game, but the ground attack has consistently carried the offense.

Defensively, Army has been the superior unit in this matchup. The Black Knights are allowing only 19.2 points and 355.2 total yards per game through five contests this season.

Quarterback Cale Hellums has emerged as the focal point of the Army offense, compiling 524 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. Last week alone, Hellums rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns in Army’s victory over Tulane.

Why the Florida Atlantic Owls will win.

• Offensive production. The Owls are averaging a massive 37.2 points per game this season.

• Quarterback play. Caden Veltkamp has thrown for 1,427 yards and 12 touchdowns.

• Current form. The Florida Atlantic Owls have won four consecutive games.

Why the Army Black Knights will win.

• Home field advantage. The Black Knights will play this game at Michie Stadium.

• Elite rushing attack. Army leads the nation with 333.2 rushing yards per game.

• Defensive edge. Army is allowing only 19.2 points per game this season.

Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Army Black Knights Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Army Black Knights. Why? Army’s strength aligns perfectly with Florida Atlantic’s biggest weakness. The Black Knights lead the nation in rushing offense with 333.2 rushing yards per game, while the Owls are allowing 166 rushing yards per contest.

Additionally, Cale Hellums has developed into one of the most dangerous dual threat quarterbacks in the country, accumulating 524 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns through five games played in 2026. Florida Atlantic’s offense should have success throwing the football, but Army’s ability to dominate possession and control the pace of the game should ultimately be the difference in this one. With that said, I am backing the Army Black Knights on the moneyline in this game.
