Duke Blue Devils Betting Preview

The Blue Devils have gotten off to a great start this year. They’ve gone through four games without a blemish on the card so far. Duke opened up the season with a 17-3 victory over Tulane, then beat Illinois 31-27 in game two. The Blue Devils were able to keep it going with a 35-7 win over Stanford then beat William & Mary for a 4-0 start to the season.

In the William & Mary game back on September 26, the Blue Devils were up 14-7 by the end of the first quarter. Duke kept it going from there with a string of unanswered scores, eventually winning 62-7 as the game came to a close. QB Walker Get was 16-of-22 for 182 yards and two scores, while Dan Mahan was 6-of-7 for 126 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview

Over on the Georgia Tech side, they also have just four games in the books this season. The Jackets’ fortunes in the win/loss column haven’t been nearly as good, though. Georgia Tech opened up with losses to Colorado and Tennessee, but then got a blowout win 44-11 over Mercer in game three. Game four was another loss, this time versus Stanford.

On the road against Stanford back on September 26, the Yellow Jackets were looking pretty good after a 20-10 halftime lead. Georgia Tech lost the handle in the third quarter though, and only ended up adding another TD in the fourth on the way to a 34-27 loss. QB Alberto Mendoza was 26-of-39 for 268 yards, two scores and an interception in the losing effort.

Duke vs Georgia Tech Prediction

I’ll stick with Duke but this should be a fun matchup. The Blue Devils are looking good these days and coming off a blowout confidence-building win over William & Mary. Duke posted 28 first downs, 638 yards on offense and 8-of-13 on third-down tries in that one. Defensively the Devils gave up just 170 yards, seven first downs and 3-of-13 on third downs. Sure, William & Mary are no match for Duke, but it was still impressive.

As for Georgia Tech, they let a potential road win over Stanford slip through their fingers in their last outing. The Jackets went just 3-of-11 on third downs in that one alongside two turnovers and 12 flags for 106 yards. The defense gave up 482 yards and 22 first downs with no takeaways on the other side. Georgia Tech has had some time to rest and prep for this one however, so I think they’ll play relatively well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Duke Blue Devils -7
