QB Julian Lewis was 19-of-29 for 168 yards, one TD and two picks. JaQuail Smith led the rush on 91 yards off eight carries.

Baylor Bears Betting Preview

Over on the Baylor side, they opened up their season with a very competitive matchup versus Auburn. The Bears were down 10-7 going into the fourth quarter and couldn’t finish it off in an eventual 17-16 loss on the road. In game two Baylor fared better with a matchup versus Prairie View A&M. The Bears scored 17 points in each of the first two quarters in a 44-3 victory.

Matched up against Louisiana Tech, the Bears were all tied up 7-7 after the first quarter but managed to pull away with 22 unanswered points over the next two periods. When the dust settled Baylor had a 36-19 win. QB Nate Bennett was 21-of-24 for 253 yards and three scores. Jayden McGowan caught two balls for 79 yards and two of the touchdowns.

I’ll stick with Baylor. The Bears played pretty well overall in their win versus LA Tech with 418 yards, 6.1 yards per play and 22 first downs. The defense managed a couple of takeaways but did allow 25 first downs and 32:18 in time of possession for the Bulldogs. There were 10 penalties for 90 yards, a sketchy 5-of-13 on third downs and two lost fumbles as well. Baylor has plenty to clean up ahead of this game.

As for Colorado, they had nine penalties for 80 yards alongside a whopping four turnovers and 4-of-12 on third downs in their loss to a pretty decent Northwestern team. The defense gave up 423 yards overall with 21 first downs and 5.8 yards per play. The Buffaloes have another tricky road matchup here and I don’t think they’ll quite cover.
