Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview
Charlotte kicked off the year on a rough stretch amid some tricky matchups. First was a triple-overtime loss to the Citadel in the opener, then a blowout loss on the road versus Ole Miss. Charlotte lost against App State in game three, then fell versus Louisiana. Following another loss to Memphis on October 3, the Niners were sitting at an 0-5 record through five.
Last weekend versus North Texas, the Niners got pummeled pretty badly in the first half (including giving up a safety) and exited the field at the break down 40-10. Things didn’t get any better from there and Charlotte lost 50-10 in the end. QB Conner Harrell was 15-of-22 for 218 yards, one TD and two picks. Henry Rutledge rushed 12 times for 38 yards in the loss.
Temple Owls Betting Preview
Over on the Temple side, they’ve had some mixed results so far. The Owls blew past Rhode Island in the opener, then hit a three-game losing streak. Those defeats came courtesy of Penn State, Toledo and Army in succession. Temple snapped the trend with a tight 17-13 victory versus South Florida. That would give the team a 2-3 run across the first five outings.
Matched up against UConn over the weekend, the Owls had a brief lead 17-14 in the second quarter but then gave up 10 unanswered points. Temple could only add a field goal in the second half and lost the game 34-20 in the end. QB Ajani Sheppard was 19-of-25 for 260 yards and a TD. JoJo Bermudez caught the score among his two grabs for 96 yards.

Charlotte vs Temple Prediction
I’ll stick with Temple, but there’s not a lot to get excited about here (plus it’s a pretty thick line). The Owls mustered 437 yards with 21 first downs and two lost fumbles in their loss to UConn last weekend. Temple’s D gave up 23 first downs and 505 yards on the other side without a takeaway. The Owls have scored 17 or fewer points in three of the last five games now.
As for Charlotte, they had just 11 first downs, 3-for-13 on third downs and two turnovers offensively in their blowout loss to North Texas. On defense the Niners gave up 580 yards and 24 first downs without a takeaway. That makes 10 or fewer points scored in four of the last five games for the 49ers.
