Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles started out the year on a pretty rocky run. Boston College went 2-3 in their first five games, beating only Rutgers and Maine with losses otherwise versus Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and SMU. Since then the Eagles have won consecutive outings versus Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech, bringing the team to 4-3 overall through seven games.

In the Georgia Tech matchup back on Saturday the Eagles were down 10-0 by the end of the first quarter but had pulled to within one point by halftime. Boston College really got the scoring going in the second half, eventually powering out a 49-27 victory. QB Mason McKenzie was 9-of-17 for 101 yards and a TD while rushing for two more scores in the win.

Duke Blue Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Duke side, they got off to a great start this season. The Blue Devils won their first four outings, taking out Tulane, Illinois, Stanford and William & Mary during that time. Duke would then lose consecutive games to Georgia Tech and North Carolina before getting a win over Virginia to make their record 5-2 overall this year.

In the Virginia game last Friday the Blue Devils were in trouble at halftime and sporting a 13-7 deficit. Duke answered with a couple of field goals in the second half, then scored a late touchdown to take the eventual win 19-16. QB Walker Eget was 14-of-25 for 211 yards and a pick. Nate Sheppard led the rush with 55 yards and a TD off 15 totes.

Boston College vs Duke Prediction

I’ll stick with Duke. The Blue Devils had a little trouble putting away Virginia in a road win their last time out, but got the much-needed win in the end. Duke only managed 16 first downs in that one though and posted an ugly 2-of-10 on third-down tries. Defensively the team held Virginia to 5-of-17 on third downs and had a couple of takeaways. The Blue Devils are 1-2 in their last three games but both losses came by four points or fewer.

As for Boston College, they put up 28 first downs and 500 total yards in their win over Georgia Tech. The Eagles D had two picks and held the Jackets to just 2-of-11 on third downs. Boston College has scored 22 or more points in all four of their wins this year so they’ll want to get off to a fast start here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Duke Blue Devils -7
