Southern Miss Golden Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Southern Miss side, they managed to come out of the gate with a win this year by taking out Alcorn State 49-3. The Eagles have since been on a losing streak over their last four outings, though. Those defeats have come at the hands of Auburn, UConn, Tulane and Troy in succession. That gives Southern Miss a rocky 1-4 record in the books so far.
Matched up against Troy back on October 6, the Eagles gave up 17 unanswered points in the first quarter. As the second quarter wound down Southern Miss was still behind 31-7. The Eagles got a little better from there but still lost 55-34. QB Landry Lyddy was 24-of-37 for 316 yards, two scores and a pick. Robert Briggs carried twice for 44 yards and a touchdown rushing.

I’ll stay with Arkansas State I suppose. Probably not touching this one though. The Red Wolves had a good offensive day (despite the three turnovers) in their loss to South Alabama, notching 31 first downs, 8-of-10 on third-down tries and 418 pass yards. The defense gave up 372 total yards and 296 rush yards though, which put a damper on things. Arkansas State has had some scoring duds this year but they should match up pretty well here.
As for Southern Miss, they gave up 33 first downs, 8-of-14 on third downs and 662 total yards (437 rushing) in their loss to Troy. The Eagles held the ball for just 20:38 of game time, so it’s impressive that they notched 512 yards on offense. Southern Miss will give up another big points total here as well if they’re not careful.
