Here’s an Appalachian State vs Georgia Southern prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best App State vs Georgia Southern pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

App State Mountaineers Betting Preview

The Mountaineers kicked off their season on a nice stretch, taking out Maine, East Carolina and Charlotte in the first three games. App State would lose the next pair versus NC State and Old Dominion, but rebounded with wins over Coastal Carolina and James Madison from there. Over seven games so far App State is a solid 5-2 overall.

Last Thursday in the James Madison game, the Mountaineers could only muster a touchdown and a field goal in the first half, going into the break down 14-10. Appalachian State got it going from there however, and eventually powered out a 34-31 overtime victory. QB Malachi Singleton was 26-of-40 for 271 yards and two touchdowns in the winning effort.

Georgia Southern Eagles Betting Preview

Over on the Eagles’ side, they haven’t had quite as much luck in the win column. Georgia Southern beat Charleston Southern in their opener then fell to Clemson, Jacksonville State and Houston in the next three. It’s been a 2-1 run since then with wins over Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion around a loss to James Madison, which gives the Eagles a 3-4 record.

Back on October 15 versus Old Dominion, the Eagles kicked three field goals in a busy second quarter and went into the break with a 16-7 edge on the scoreboard. Georgia Southern added a TD in the third quarter along the way to a 23-15 victory. QB Turner Helton was 23-of-30 for 206 yards, one TD and one pick during the victory for the Eagles.

Appalachian State vs Georgia Southern Prediction

I’ll stick with App State. The Mountaineers pulled off a nice win over a previously undefeated James Madison team, posting 366 yards and 22 first downs in the process. Appalachian State’s defense gave up 423 yards on the other side but did quite well on third downs (2-of-15). JMU’s 10 penalties didn’t hurt either. The Mountaineers have two close wins in their last pair, with both coming by just a field goal.

As for Georgia Southern, they were able to put away a struggling ODU team during a sloppy game their last time out. The Eagles committed 13 of the game’s 25 flags, costing them a whopping 120 yards. Still, Georgia Southern ended up with 406 total yards and 28 first downs along the way. The Eagles have been quite competitive during this current 2-1 stretch.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Appalachian State Mountaineers +5.5
