Over on the Creighton side, they limped through their first 10 games of the season and could only manage a 5-5 overall record. The Bluejays would beat Xavier, Marquette, Utah Tech and Butler in the next four, however they’re just 2-3 since then with losses to Seton Hall, St. John’s and Providence. In their first 19 outings of the year that gives the Bluejays an 11-8 overall record in the books.
Matched up against Providence on Friday the Bluejays were in the locker room sitting on a 46-45 edge. Creighton was outscored 48-42 the rest of the way however, leading to a 93-88 road loss. Jasen Green topped the team scorers in the losing effort with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Josh Dix added 17 points with three rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes as well.

Xavier vs Creighton Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Creighton I suppose. You could call this one either way, though. The Jays had a slow second half in their loss to a middling Providence team on the road last week, shooting just 40.9 percent from the field overall. Creighton was also out-rebounded 43-32 and had a 50-32 deficit on points in the paint. The Bluejays are just 2-3 in their last five games but they’re scoring well with 73 or more points in four straight.
These teams last saw each other back on December 17 in a somewhat surprising 98-57 blowout road win for Creighton. The Jays shot a stellar 60.3 percent from the field and 48.5 percent (16-of-33) from 3-point range in that one while giving up just 36.4 percent shooting on defense. Creighton also had a 37-27 rebounding advantage and a 42-28 edge on points in the paint. This home rematch likely won’t be an outright blowout like that one, but I think the Jays still have the inside track on a potential cover.
