Wyoming Cowboys Betting Preview
Wyoming has had a couple of good runs this year but they’ve plummeted below the .500 mark lately. The Cowboys opened on a 5-1 run with a lone loss to Texas Tech, then fell to LMU, Utah State, South Dakota State, and BYU in the next four. A 4-1 run came next with a loss to Boise State among wins versus Bellarmine, CSU Fullerton, Nevada, and Air Force. Since then Wyoming has beaten only UNLV and Fresno State. Otherwise, it’s been losses to New Mexico, Boise State, Colorado State, San Jose State, San Diego State, Utah State, UNLV, and New Mexico. That gives the Cowboys an 11-14 overall run through the first 25 games this year.
In their latest road matchup with New Mexico, the Cowboys were looking good on a 39-29 advantage through the first half. Wyoming was outscored 42-28 the rest of the way, however, and ended up falling 71-67 in the end. Obi Agbim led the team in the losing effort with his 22 points and one assist in 28 minutes. Tops in scoring off the bench was AJ Wills, who notched 12 points with three assists, two rebounds, and one steal in 29 minutes on the floor.
Colorado State Rams Betting Preview
Over on the Colorado State side, they were fairly shaky through late December but they’ve gotten much better in the win column since then. The Rams hit a 7-6 run in their first 13 outings, taking losses to Ole Miss, UC Riverside, Washington, Colorado, VCU and New Mexico in that time. Since then Colorado State is 8-3 with losses to only San Diego State, New Mexico, and Utah State. The Rams have beaten San Jose State, Fresno State, UNLV, Wyoming, Boise State, Fresno State, Air Force, and San Diego State otherwise since then. In total, the Rams have posted a 15-9 run through their first 24 outings this year.
Matched up against Utah State on Tuesday, the Rams hit a 45-30 deficit in the first half. Colorado State got better from there on a 55-48 run but still lost 93-85. Nique Clifford was tops on the team with a double-double of 24 points, 16 rebounds, and three assists. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson added 17 points with two rebounds and two assists. Kyan Evans chipped in with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 31 minutes of work as well.
Why the Colorado State Rams will win
- Colorado State has won eight of its last nine day games against Conference opponents.
- Wyoming has lost each of its last five games at Moby Arena against non-AP-ranked opponents.
- Wyoming has lost the first half in each of its last five day games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Wyoming vs Colorado State Prediction
I’ll just stick with Colorado State here. The Rams need a good bounce-back effort here after struggling in a loss to a good Utah State team, though. Colorado State was highly permissive on defense in that one, giving up 59.3 percent shooting from the field and coughing up 11 turnovers for 21 Aggies points. The Rams have given up 87 or more points in each of their last two losses during this 1-2 span.
The Rams won the last time these teams met up, taking it 79-63 on the road back on January 18. Colorado State shot 51.9 percent from the field with a 37-28 rebounding advantage in that one and didn’t have too many issues. This should be a very winnable game as well.
