The Knights otherwise beat Colorado, Arizona State and Texas Tech in that time for a 17-6 record.
Matched up against Cincinnati last weekend the Knights left the floor in the first half with a sizable deficit 40-28. Central Florida was outscored 52-44 from there, falling further behind in an eventual loss on the road 92-72. Jordan Burks (one assist) and Chris Johnson (six assists; three rebounds) each had 16 points while Jamichael Stillwell added 14 points and nine boards.

I’ll lean toward West Virginia. The Mountaineers posted a reasonable 43.6 percent shooting in their latest home loss to Texas Tech, but did poorly from both 3-point range (9.1 percent on 2-of-22) and the line (56.5 percent on 13-of-23). Otherwise WVU had a 29-25 rebounding edge and a 38-20 advantage on points in the paint alongside just seven turnovers. The Mountaineers have gone 2-3 in their last five games, scoring fewer than 64 points in each of those.
As for UCF, they couldn’t keep pace with Cincinnati in their latest loss, shooting a tepid 40.9 percent from the field with 58.9 percent surrendered on defense. The Knights were outmuscled on the boards 35-27 but otherwise didn’t play too badly overall. UCF has lost consecutive games now, giving up a combined 171 points in that pair.
