West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview
The Mountaineers started out the season on a 9-5 run, then beat Cincinnati, Kansas, Colorado and Arizona State over the next five games. A 3-3 run came next with wins over Kansas State, Cincinnati and Central Florida. The losses otherwise during that half-dozen-game stretch were versus Arizona, Baylor and Texas Tech, giving the Mountaineers a 16-9 run over the first 25 games.
In the Utah matchup on Wednesday, West Virginia was in trouble at halftime sporting a 31-21 deficit. The Mountaineers got a little better after the break on a 35-30 advantage but it wasn’t enough in a 61-56 loss on their home court. Chance Moore put up 12 points with four rebounds while Honor Huff added 12 points with two rebounds and one assist in 37 minutes during the loss.
TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview
Over on the TCU side, they notched a pretty solid 11-3 opening run in their first 14 games, then took losses to Kansas, Arizona, BYU and Utah during a tough stretch. A 5-2 run came over the next seven games, featuring wins over Oklahoma State, Baylor, Kansas State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State with losses to Houston and Colorado. That would make for a 16-9 record in 25 games.
Matched up against UCF on Tuesday the Frogs were in trouble on a 42-28 deficit by the end of the first half. TCU got a little better from there on a 43-40 advantage in the second but still took the double-digit loss on the road in the end 82-71. West Virginia vs TCU Prediction
I’ll lean toward TCU. The Frogs didn’t play their greatest ball in the loss to a good Central Florida team this week, though. In that one TCU shot 41.7 percent from the field with just 19 percent (4-of-21) from 3-point range. The 12 turnovers and 49.1 percent shooting allowed on defense didn’t help much either. TCU is still 3-1 in their last four games though, scoring 71 or more points in three of those games.
As for West Virginia, they took a tough loss at home this week versus a middling Utah team. The Mountaineers shot 42.3 percent from the field in that one but only 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from 3-point range and 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from the line. The 35-27 rebounding deficit didn’t help either. WVU is 1-2 in their last three games now, scoring fewer than 64 points in both losses.
