Washington Huskies Betting Preview

The Huskies were able to win nine of their first 13 games this season. Losses came in five of the next six games, then wins in two of three versus Oregon and Northwestern. After that came a 2-5 run in seven outings with losses to Iowa, UCLA, Penn State, Maryland and Wisconsin in that time. In their first 29 games of the year the Huskies were able to muster a 14-15 record overall.

On Wednesday versus USC, the Huskies didn’t look spectacular in the first half on a 43-40 deficit. Washington came back with a vengeance from there however, hitting a 51-29 advantage the rest of the way toward a 91-72 victory on their home court. Zoom Diallo was the leading scorer on the team with 26 points and nine boards while Hannes Steinbach added 22 points with a whopping 24 rebounds.

Oregon Ducks Betting Preview

Over on the Oregon side, they posted an 8-6 run out of the gate this year then lost to Rutgers, Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan State, Washington, UCLA, Iowa, Purdue and Indiana from there. Since then it’s been a 3-3 run with wins over Penn State, USC and Wisconsin mixed with losses to Minnesota, Northwestern and Illinois for an 11-19 overall record this year.

In Tuesday’s game versus Illinois the Ducks were in trouble by the break sporting a 41-21 deficit on the scoreboard. Oregon limped to a 39-33 second half, so they didn’t end up getting any closer in an eventual 80-54 blowout loss on the road. Leading the team in scoring during the defeat was Nate Bittle with 15 points and five boards. Kwame Evans added 13 points and eight rebounds as well.

Washington vs Oregon Prediction

I’ll lean toward Washington but it’s a coin flip. The Huskies started slowly in their home win over USC this week, but eventually hit 48.1 percent from the field with just 37.5 percent allowed on defense. The 44-34 rebounding advantage helped, as did the 54-32 edge on points in the paint. Washington wasn’t great from outside though (23.3 percent on 7-of-30). That gives the Huskies a choppy 3-2 run in the last five games, but they’ve hit 73 or more points in three straight outings.

Back on January 25 when these teams last met up, Washington secured a 72-57 victory on their home court. In that one the Huskies didn’t shoot great (41.5 percent) from the field and had just 61.5 percent (8-of-13) at the line. That said, Washington held the Ducks to just 35.7 percent shooting on defense and posted a dominant 42-23 advantage on the boards. This road rematch is going to be tougher, but if all goes well I think the Huskies can pull it off.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Washington Huskies -1.5
