Wagner Seahawks Betting Preview

This year Wagner opened up the season on an ugly run, dropping each of their first five games. The Seahawks hit a nice 6-1 stretch after that though, beating Manhattan, Bryant Str-Alb, Bloomfield, Maryland Eastern Shore, Manor College and Chicago State. After losses to Stonehill, Saint Francis and Mercyhurst in the next three, Wagner had a 6-9 record over their first 15 outings of the year.

On Saturday versus New Haven, the Seahawks were in trouble at the break, looking up at a 44-33 deficit on the road. Wagner got better in the second half with a 41-36 run but eventually lost in the end 80-74. Leading the scoring was Nick Jones with 20 points and two rebounds in 33 minutes. Jaden Baker put up 18 points with four rebounds and four assists while Michael Cooper added 10 points and six rebounds.

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Betting Preview

Over on the Knights’ side, they had a rough 1-7 start to the year over their first eight outings. Fairleigh Dickinson beat only St. Elizabeth during that time. The Knights went 4-5 over the next nine, taking losses to Fordham, Boston College, Minnesota, Saint Francis and New Haven. In 17 games that would give the Knights an ugly 5-12 record.

Matched up against Long Island U over the weekend, FDU went into the second half with a 31-25 deficit. The Knights were outscored 35-34 from there, so they didn’t end up getting any closer in a 66-59 loss at home. Eric Parnell was the leading team scorer on 15 points with four rebounds. Arthur Cox added 13 points with four rebounds in 16 minutes and Joey Niesman had 10 points with three rebounds and two assists.

Wagner vs Fairleigh Dickinson Prediction

I’ll lean toward Wagner but it’s a coin flip. The Seahawks came up short on the road versus a manageable New Haven team this weekend, despite shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from outside along with a 30-15 rebounding edge. Wagner had a sloppy ball-control game with 17 turnovers though, leading to most of their issues. The Seahawks have lost four straight games now, scoring fewer than 70 points in three of them while giving up 69 or more points in all four.

As for Fairleigh Dickinson, they didn’t play very well in their latest Rothman Center loss to LIU. The Knights shot just 36.4 percent from the field, 17.4 percent (4-of-23) from outside and 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from the line alongside a 52-28 deficit on points in the paint and 11 turnovers. FDU has lost consecutive games now, failing to hit 60 points in either of them.
