Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Miami Hurricanes enter Tuesday’s contest with a 20–5 overall record, including a 9–3 mark in conference play and a 13–2 record at home. Miami has compiled wins over Notre Dame, Washington, Oregon and the Illinois Fighting Illini, while dropping games to Duke, Clemson and Wisconsin.

Last month, in the Miami Hurricanes convincing 81-69 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Miami guard Tre Donaldson amassed 23 points (8 of 14 shooting from the field), 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals showcasing his ability to play at a high level.

The Miami Hurricanes are averaging 83.6 points (33rd in nation) on 50.8 percent shooting from the field per game which ranks ninth in the country. Shifting our focus to the defensive side of the basketball, the Hurricanes are allowing opponents 70.1 points per contest which ranks 66th in the nation.

Senior forward Matthew Reneau leads the Hurricanes, averaging 20.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1 steal per game. Senior forward Ernest Udeh Jr. adds 7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per contest anchoring the Hurricanes frontcourt. Senior guard Tre Donaldson contributes 15.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game providing Miami with further stability at the guard position.

Why the Virginia Tech Hokies Will Win

• Quality frontcourt play. Armani Hansberry and Tobi Lawal combine for over 27 points per game.

• Balanced scoring. Four Virginia Tech Hokies players average over 11.8 points a game.

Why the Miami Hurricanes Will Win

• Home court advantage. The Miami Hurricanes have amassed a rather impressive 13-2 record at home this season.

• Offensive efficiency. The Miami Hurricanes are averaging 83.6 points per game which ranks 33rd in the nation.

• Defensive edge. The Hurricanes are allowing opponents 70.1 points per contest which ranks 66th in the nation. Conversely, the Virginia Tech Hokies are allowing 74.7 points per contest.

Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Miami Hurricanes Prediction

This matchup features Virginia Tech’s slower overall pace and quality frontcourt against a Miami Hurricanes team that has been far more explosive from an offensive perspective and significantly more efficient at home in 2025. Virginia Tech has shown stretches of competitive play this season, but the Hurricanes overall scoring balance, home court advantage and recent momentum create a difficult matchup for a Hokies team that has struggled to keep pace with the ACC’s top tier offenses this season. With that said, I am backing the Miami Hurricanes to cover the 8.5 points in this matchup.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Miami Hurricanes -8.5
