Vermont Catamounts Betting Preview

Vermont lost three of their first four games this year, then hit a 4-1 stretch with wins over Buffalo, Delaware, Plattsburgh State, and Northeastern. Since then it’s been a pair of losses to Brown and Yale.

Last weekend versus Yale, Vermont held a 24-22 edge going into the second half. The Catamounts fell off from there on a 43-26 deficit and lost 65-50, though. TJ Hurley led the team on 21 points with four rebounds.

Colgate Raiders Betting Preview

Over on the Colgate side, they lost to Drexel, Syracuse, NC State, and Harvard in their first five. After a win over UNC Wilmington, it was more losses to App State, Sam Houston, Cornell Northeastern, and Kentucky.

On Wednesday in the Wildcats game, the Raiders held strong in the first half with a 38-36 deficit. Colgate fell behind 40-31 in the second and ended up with a  78-67 loss. Parker Jones was the team’s top scorer with 17 points and six boards.

Vermont vs Colgate Prediction

I’ll take a stab at Colgate here. The Raiders went into the proverbial lion’s den against Kentucky and posted a pretty decent showing in their last game, all things considered. Colgate held the Wildcats to a tepid 42.9 percent shooting and committed just eight turnovers, resulting in their third relatively close loss in the last four games.

As for Vermont, they shot just 34.5 percent from the field versus Yale and got out-rebounded 40-29. The Catamounts have scored just 103 points in their last two games combined. This one could break a lot of different ways, but coming off a reasonably good game on the national stage I think Colgate has a solid shot here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Colgate Raiders +1.5
