Vermont Catamounts Betting Preview
Vermont managed to just barely stay above the .500 mark through their first 15 games, going 8-7 in that time. The Catamounts would win six of the next seven over New Hampshire, Binghamton, Maine, UMass Lowell, Bryant and UMBC, though. After losses to NJIT and Maine, the Catamounts took out New Hampshire in their latest outing. That makes for a 15-10 record so far.
In the New Hampshire matchup last weekend the Catamounts entered the second half with a 42-29 advantage. Vermont kept it going from there on a 38-28 run and took the victory in the end 80-57 in a home matchup. The Catamounts’ leading scorer was Ben Johnson on 26 points with two rebounds. Gus Yalden added 16 points with eight rebounds and two assists.
Binghamton Bearcats Betting Preview
Over on the Binghamton side, they’ve had a rough year so far. The Bearcats are yet to win consecutive games, and they were sitting at just 4-11 over their first 15 outings. It’s been losses to NJIT, Vermont, UMass Lowell, Albany, UMBC, New Hampshire, Maine, UMBC and NJIT (with a win over Bryant) since then. That gives the Bearcats a rough 5-20 run through 25 games this year.
In the NJIT matchup last weekend the Bearcats were down by just two points 32-30 on the road by halftime. Binghamton didn’t end up getting any closer though, hitting a 41-34 deficit the rest of the way in a 73-64 loss. Jeremiah Quigley put up 15 points with eight assists and seven rebounds while Wes Peterson added 14 points with seven rebounds in 37 minutes.

Vermont vs Binghamton Prediction
I’ll lean toward Vermont but I’m probably not touching this one. The Catamounts didn’t have too much issue in a home win over New Hampshire last weekend though, shooting 45.2 percent from the field while giving up just 38 percent on defense. Vermont had a 38-30 rebounding edge with 20 team assists along the way. The Catamounts are 4-2 in their last six games and they’ve scored at least 70 points in three straight.
These teams last saw each other in a tight home win for the Catamounts back on January 8 60-59. In that one Vermont shot 43.8 percent from the field with a 28-12 edge on points in the paint and just eight turnovers. The Catamounts were pretty bad from the line though, hitting just 54.2 percent (13-of-24). Vermont is going to need to sharpen up for the road rematch.
