The Tigers beat Southern Illinois, New Orleans and Baylor in the next trio of games, but then fell versus Louisville over the weekend. Matched up against Louisville on Saturday, the Tigers were outscored by 20 points in the first half. Memphis hit a 42-36 run the rest of the way and limped to the blowout loss 99-73. Hasan Abdul Hakim put up 18 points with four rebounds while Dug McDaniel added 16 points with two rebounds. Sincere Parker added 12 points with four rebounds and three assists in the losing effort as well.

In their latest win versus Central Arkansas over the weekend, Vanderbilt shot 42.2 percent from the field with 13 turnovers but also hit 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the line with a 44-31 rebounding advantage. Vanderbilt is scoring great so far this year; they’ve got 83 or more points in all 10 games.
As for Memphis, they struggled against a good Louisville team in their last outing. The Tigers shot 41.2 percent from the field with a 32-30 rebounding deficit but did well in the paint on a 40-24 scoring advantage. Memphis has 68 or more points in every game so far this year themselves, however they’re giving up a lot of scoring to capable offenses on the other side; 70 or more in each of the last three games.
