UTSA Roadrunners Betting Preview
The Roadrunners limped to a 4-3 run over their first seven games and haven’t been above .500 since. Losses to South Alabama, Alabama, Colorado, USC, Seattle U, Florida Atlantic, Temple, Charlotte, Tulane, Rice, Memphis, North Texas, Temple, UAB, South Florida and North Texas came in succession after that. Over 23 games so far that gives the Roadrunners a 4-19 record in the books.
In the North Texas matchup back on Saturday the Roadrunners were in trouble at halftime sporting a 34-26 deficit on their home court. UTSA was outscored 47-32 the rest of the way and limped to an 81-58 blowout loss in the end. Jamir Simpson was tops on 17 points with two boards and two assists while Baboucarr Njie added 11 points with five rebounds in 29 minutes.
East Carolina Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the East Carolina side, they could only muster a 5-7 record across their first dozen outings this season. The Pirates have losses to North Carolina, Tulane, Temple, UAB, South Florida, Charlotte, Wichita State, Rice and Temple since then, beating only North Texas and FAU otherwise. That gives the team a 7-16 run over the first 23 outings this season so far.
Matched up against Temple over the weekend the Pirates entered the second half with a 35-28 deficit. East Carolina was outscored 46-45 the rest of the way and ended up falling 81-73 in a home matchup by game’s end. UTSA vs East Carolina Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Pirates I suppose, but I’m probably not going near this one. East Carolina couldn’t handle a pretty good Temple team in their last outing, despite shooting 47.2 percent from the field with a 40-28 advantage on points in the paint and just six turnovers. The Pirates have just two victories in the bag since December 17, but overall they’re scoring well over the last three games with 73 or more points in each.
As for UTSA, they shot a tepid 41.5 percent from the field and a bad 13.3 percent (2-of-15) from outside in their latest loss to North Texas. The 16 turnovers and 43-27 deficit on the boards didn’t help the Roadrunners either. UTSA hasn’t won a game since November 25, and they’ve given up 70 or more points in all of the losses in between.
