UNC Greensboro Spartans Betting Preview

The Spartans didn’t start out the season very well, to say the least. UNC Greensboro hit the skids right out of the gate, falling to Kansas State, Elon, NC State, Austin Peay and Queens University over their first five outings. Mercifully, UNC Greensboro was able to get their first win back on Sunday, taking out Youngstown State 68-62. That would make a rough 1-5 run over the Spartans’ first half-dozen outings this year.

On Tuesday versus Delaware, the Spartans held a slim 29-27 lead at halftime. UNC Greensboro was outscored 46-31 the rest of the way however, resulting in a 73-60 loss in the end. Leading the team was Lilian Marville with 17 points and three rebounds. Donald Whitehead added 12 points with three rebounds in 29 minutes of work during the loss.

Miami-OH RedHawks Betting Preview

Over on the Miami-OH side, they’ve got just five games in the books but they’re without a blemish thus far in the season. The RedHawks got past Old Dominion in the opener, then took out Trinity Christian IL and Air Force in the next pair. Game four was a pretty tight five-point win over Mercyhurst, then Miami-OH followed that up with another win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff this past weekend.

In the Sunday matchup versus the Golden Lions, the RedHawks jumped out to a dominant 56-36 advantage by the break. Miami-OH added to the lead in the second half on a 55-48 run and took the eventual victory 111-84 in the end. Topping the scorers was Evan Ipsaro with 20 points, three assists and two boards. Peter Suder added 17 points and four assists while Trey Perry had 15 points with six boards and two assists in 16 minutes of action on the floor for Miami-OH during the victory effort.

Why the Miami RedHawks will win

UNC Greensboro vs Miami-OH Prediction

I’ll probably just stick with the RedHawks. In their latest outing versus a struggling AR-Pine Bluff team, Miami-OH was pretty dominant. The RedHawks hit 56.3 percent from the field, 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) from outside and 28-of-32 (87.5 percent) from the line alongside a 37-30 rebounding advantage, 50-36 on points in the paint and just nine turnovers. It was a pretty complete effort all the way around. Miami-OH has 76 or more points in all five games so far, with 87 or more in three of those and 111 or more in two of them.

As for UNC Greensboro, they kept a lid on Delaware pretty well during the first half of Tuesday’s game, but lost the handle from there. The Spartans shot just 30.2 percent from the field with a 33-27 rebounding deficit and a 30-8 disadvantage in the paint. UNC Greensboro has been below 69 points in four of the last five games, losing four of those five.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Miami-OH RedHawks -10.5
