Kansas City Roos Betting Preview
It’s been a rough year for the Kangaroos, to put it lightly. Kansas City limped to a 4-12 overall record in their first 16 games, beating only Evangel, Spurgeon College, McPherson and Omaha in that time. Since then UMKC has lost to North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Omaha and Denver. That gives the team a 4-18 overall record in 22 games so far.
In the Denver matchup on Wednesday, the Kangaroos were all tied up 32-32 going into the second half. UMKC was outscored 37-29 the rest of the way and ended up falling 69-61 in a home matchup. The Roos were led by Kasheem Grady in the loss with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Jayson Petty added 16 points with three rebounds as well.
St. Thomas-MN Tommies Betting Preview
Over on the Tommies’ side, they posted a spotty 6-4 record across their first 10 games of the year. St. Thomas-MN beat Weber State, St. John’s MN, UNC Asheville, UC Riverside, North Central MN, Denver, South Dakota, Oral Roberts, North Dakota, South Dakota State and South Dakota over the next 12 games. Over the first 22 outings that would give the Tommies a 17-5 overall record.
On Thursday versus North Dakota, the Tommies were looking pretty good at the half, taking a 43-35 lead into the locker room. St. Thomas-MN was outscored 46-37 the rest of the way however, ultimately leading to a tough loss at home 81-80 in the end. Kansas City vs St. Thomas-MN Prediction
I’ll stay with the Tommies. St. Thomas-MN needs to get over their tough home loss to a decent North Dakota team this week, though. The Tommies shot 49.1 percent from the feudal in that one with a 31-26 rebounding advantage and 42 points in the paint. St. Thomas-MN gave up 50 percent shooting from the field on defense, though. The Tommies are a very tepid 2-2 in their last four games, but they’ve scored 74 or more points in three straight outings (a 2-1 run).
As for UMKC, they took yet another loss at home versus a middling Denver team this week. The Roos shot just 38.1 percent from the field in that one with 20 percent (5-of-25) from outside and 50 percent (8-of-16) from the line alongside a 48-32 rebounding deficit. Kansas City has lost six consecutive games now and they’ve scored fewer than 63 points in three straight.
