UMass Lowell River Hawks Betting Preview
UMass Lowell has been pretty solid for most of the 2024-25 season so far. The River Hawks only have two instances of consecutive losses, and they haven’t been below .500 all year. Following a 2-2 start featuring wins over Rivier and Saint Peter’s before losses to Gonzaga and Washington, UMass Lowell beat Fisher College, Quinnipiac, and Merrimack before two more losses to St. Louis and Central Connecticut. A win streak over UMass, LIU, Dartmouth, Stonehill, Boston U, Emerson, and Albany came next, then a loss to Vermont before another win over NJIT. The result was a solid 13-5 stretch through the River Hawks’ first 18 games.
In the NJIT game on Saturday, the River Hawks came out of halftime with a 39-26 edge. UMass Lowell hit a 36-31 deficit the rest of the way but still held on for a win 70-62 in the end. Leading the way with a double-double was Max Brooks on 16 points, 14 boards, five assists and five blocks. Martin Somerville was the top scorer with 26 points, six assists, and two boards. Cam Morris chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Bryant Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Bryant side, they’ve had a choppy time in the record column so far this year, but they’ve been able to claw their way back to the .500 level over the last three outings. The Bulldogs went 6-5 over their first 11 games with losses to Siena, Stonehill, St. Bonaventure, Chattanooga, and Brown. The wins otherwise were over Dean College, Buffalo, Delaware, Tennessee State, Drexel, and Vermont State Johnson. Following four straight losses to St. John’s, Fordham, Towson, and Grand Canyon, the Bulldogs were able to take out Maine, Vermont, and Albany in the next three for a 9-9 overall run through their first 18 outings.
Matched up against Albany on Thursday, the Bulldogs entered the second half holding a 43-37 edge. Bryant kept it up in the second with a 46-42 advantage and came away with the win 89-79. Leading the way was Rafael Pinzon with 22 points, five assists, three steals and three rebounds. Earl Timberlake added 21 points with nine rebounds, eight assists, and four blocks. Kvonn Cramer came off the bench to chip in 11 points with four boards and two steals.

UMass Lowell vs Bryant Prediction
I’ll take a stab at Bryant here. You could argue it either way, though. The Bulldogs are on a nice run over the last three games, and coming off a solid road win over a middling Albany team. Bryant shot 50.8 percent from the floor in that one alongside a 39-32 rebounding edge and just nine turnovers. During this three-game win streak, the Bulldogs have hit 73 or more points in each game while holding opponents below 56 points in two of those.
As for UMass Lowell, they’ll serve as a formidable opponent here, even on the road. The River Hawks have put up 69 or more points in eight of their last nine games (all eight were wins), so Bryant is going to have to press the issue on offense in order to keep a good pace on Saturday. I think the Bulldogs can stay with it enough to cover.
