The Golden Hurricane took on Oklahoma Christian in their opener last week and didn’t have any issues. After a 52-30 first-half advantage, Tulsa cruised on a 48-27 second half for a 100-57 blowout home win. Leading the team in scoring were David Green (four rebounds) and Tylen Riley (four rebounds; three assists), both with 15 points in 20 minutes of work on the floor. Miles Barnstable added 14 points with four rebounds and two assists, while Ade Popoola chipped in 12 points with six boards and one assist in 21 minutes of action.
In their second game back on Friday, the Hurricane hit the road to face off against Rhode Island. Tulsa was up by seven points going into the second half, then hit a 46-36 advantage the rest of the way in an 82-65 victory. Leading the way this time was David Green with 14 points, four assists and five rebounds. Miles Barnstable (four assists; three rebounds), Tylen Riley (three assists) and Romad Dean (six rebounds) each scored 13 points as well. Over on the Oral Roberts side, they kicked off their 2025-26 campaign with a tricky road matchup versus Oklahoma State. The Eagles were within four points by the end of the first half, but then faded on a 45-25 deficit toward a 95-71 loss in the end. Leading the scorers was Ty Harper with 18 points and six rebounds in 30 minutes, and Jack Turner put up 14 points with four rebounds and two assists. Ofri Naveh added 11 points with seven rebounds and three assists over 31 minutes of work in the losing effort for the Eagles as well.
Oral Roberts played John Brown in their latest outing on Saturday and things went much better. The Golden Eagles were up by seven at the break, then hit their stride on a 44-17 run the rest of the way in an 84-50 win. Luke Gray put up 19 points with two rebounds in just 16 minutes of work to lead the team, ,and both Ofri Naveh (four assists; seven rebounds) and Ty Harper (four rebounds) had 11 points apiece. Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams added nine points with seven rebounds in 17 minutes of action during the victory effort as well.

I’m staying with Tulsa. The Hurricane did a pretty good job against Rhode Island in their latest victory—despite coughing up 14 turnovers and missing nine of their 24 free throw chances (62.5 percent). Tulsa shot well with 51.9 percent from the field and 50 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range while posting a 26-24 rebounding edge and nine steals alongside 18 team assists. That makes 182 combined points for the Hurricane in their two wins so far.
As for Oral Roberts, they didn’t shoot great versus John Brown (41.2 percent) but did a solid job on the boards 43-31 and played well defensively. Tulsa is going to be a much trickier proposition for the Eagles, though.
