Tulane Green Wave Betting Preview

The Wave logged a 7-4 run over their first 11 games, taking losses to New Orleans, Utah State, Akron and UC San Diego. After wins over LA Tech, Portland State, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic and UTSA, Tulane has since lost to UAB, North Texas, Florida Atlantic, Chalrotte and South Florida in the last five. That gives the team a 12-9 record over the first 21 games of the year.

In the South Florida matchup on Wednesday the Green Wave were entering the second half with a rough 52-39 deficit on the scoreboard. Tulane didn’t end up getting any closer on a 45-44 run from there and took the loss in the end 97-83. Tyler Ringgold led the team on 14 points with two assists and four rebounds while Asher Woods added 14 points with four rebounds and one assist.

Memphis Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Memphis side, they could only muster wins versus San Francisco, Southern Illinois, New Orleans and Baylor during a rough 4-7 start to the year. The Tigers beat Alabama State, North Texas, Rice, Temple and UTSA over the next six games, then lost to Tulsa and Wichita State in the next pair. That would give the Tigers a 9-10 record in their first 19 games this year.

Matched up against Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Memphis was in control 41-33 by the end of the first half. The Tigers really got it going in the second, hitting a 51-32 advantage on the way to a 92-65 victory in the end. Dug McDaniel put up 23 points with six assists and two rebounds in the winning effort for the Tigers, and Sincere Parker chipped in 21 points with five rebounds and three assists.

Tulane vs Memphis Prediction

I’ll stick with Memphis but it’s a coin flip. The Tigers didn’t have a ton of issues with a pretty good Florida Atlantic team this week. Memphis hit 50.7 percent from the field in that one with 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the line and a 50-20 advantage on points in the paint. The Tigers were out-rebounded 33-30 but also gave up just 30.8 percent shooting on defense. Memphis had lost consecutive games before that—scoring fewer than 67 points in each—so the 92 points in a home win were nice.

As for Tulane, they shot reasonably well from the field (43.5 percent) in their latest home loss to South Florida. The Wave posted a tepid 66.7 percent (16-of-24) from the line though, along with a 42-26 rebounding deficit and a 42-28 disadvantage on the boards. Tulane has lost five straight games now, giving up 71 or more points in all of those. The Wave have scored 69 or more points in four of those five, however.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Memphis Tigers -9.5
