We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Texas vs Auburn pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.
Texas Longhorns Betting Preview
The Longhorns came out of the gate this year with a 9-4 record in their first 11 games. Texas recorded losses to Duke, Arizona State, Virginia and UConn in that time. Since then, the Longhorns are 5-4 over the last nine. They’ve got wins over Le Moyne, Maryland Eastern Shore, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Georgia in that stretch. In the first 20 games of the year that gives the Longhorns a 12-8 run.
In the Georgia matchup last weekend, Texas was in trouble at the break, looking up at a 37-30 deficit on the scoreboard. The Longhorns came roaring back in the second half however, posting a rollicking 57-30 run for an 87-67 comeback victory at home. Dailyn Swain led the team on 26 points with six boars and two assists, while Tramon Mark had 23 points with six rebounds and four assists.
Auburn Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the Auburn side, they managed a nice 7-2 start this year with losses to only Houston and Michigan. A 3-5 stretch came in the next eight games though, as the Tigers lost to Arizona, Purdue, Georgia, Texas A&M and Missouri. Since then however, it’s been three straight wins over South Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida. That gives Auburn a 13-7 record over the first 20 games of the year.
Back on Saturday matched up against Florida, the Tigers entered the second half with a 43-28 advantage. Auburn was outscored 39-33 in the rest of the game but still held on for a fairly comfortable win on the road 76-67 in the end. Keyshawn Hall led the team with 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists. KeShawn Murphy added 16 points with nine rebounds.

Texas vs Auburn Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Texas in this one. The Longhorns are a dangerous (and volatile) team this year, as proven by their stellar comeback win over Georgia this past weekend. Texas shot an excellent 58.3 percent from the field in that one with a 29-23 rebounding edge and a 38-30 advantage on points in the paint. Playing at home certainly helped, but the Longhorns also managed to beat Alabama on the road back on January 10. Still, Texas has lost some games they probably shouldn’t have this season as well.
As for Auburn, they dispatched Florida in a road matchup last weekend thanks to 48.1 percent shooting from the field and 90.5 percent (19-of-21) at the line, not to mention the 38-28 advantage in the paint. The Tigers have won three straight, and they’ve got a couple of winnable matchups looming before their February 7 home showdown with Alabama. That one will mark the start of three straight games versus ranked teams.
