Texas Southern opened up the year on a rough run, but they’ve been a lot better since the calendar flipped over to 2025. Grambling lost to Ole Miss, Florida, New Mexico, USC, Cal Poly, Pepperdine, SE Louisiana, Delaware State, Norfolk State, Cincinnati, Prairie View, Texas Southern, and Bethune-Cookman over the first 16 games. It’s been an improved 5-3 run since then with losses to Southern, Jackson State, and Alcorn State among wins over Florida A&M, MS Valley State, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Alabama State, and Alabama A&M. The Tigers are currently sitting on an 8-16 overall record through 24 games.
Matched up against the Bulldogs in their last outing, the Tigers were in trouble with a 34-25 deficit at the break. Texas Southern came back on a 47-27 run though and took the win in the end 72-61. Kintavious Dozier cashed in on 17 points with three assists, two rebounds and two steals. Both PJ Eason (five rebounds) and Antwan Burnett (nine rebounds; two assists) put up 15 points apiece, while Mikale Stevenson chipped in 13 points with six boards.

Texas Southern vs Grambling State Prediction
I’ll lean toward Grambling I suppose. Probably not touching this one, though. Grambling started slowly against Alabama A&M in their latest win but eventually shot a nice 51.2 percent from the field with a 37-31 rebounding edge. The 16 turnovers for 15 Bulldogs points during a sloppy overall game (29 total turnovers) really got them into trouble at times, though. Still, that makes consecutive wins for the Tigers with a combined 149 points in those.
Grambling took a road loss 71-66 in overtime the last time these teams met up back on January 6. Neither team shot well (under 40 percent) and Grambling had 18 turnovers in a messy outing. I like a cleaner effort at home in the rematch as Grambling gets some revenge.
