Rutgers has five games in the bag so far this year. The Knights started out on a 4-0 run, beginning with an 81-53 opener victory versus Rider. Rutgers would keep it going on a 72-60 win over Maine, then beat Lehigh 84-72 in game three. The Scarlet Knights’ fourth game was another victory, this time 80-71 versus American. Leading the team in that one was Dylan Grant with 22 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

In their latest matchup versus Central Connecticut State on Friday, Rutgers notched their first defeat of the year. The Knights posted just 28 points in the first and another 26 points from there during a rough 67-54 defeat in the end. Tops in scoring was Tariq Francis with 19 points, and Emmanuel Ogbole added 10 rebounds. Denis Badalau finished with 11 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort as well.

In game two versus Northern Kentucky, Tennessee cruised to a 95-56 victory thanks to 52 first-half points. Nate Ament posted 23 points with eight rebounds and five assists while JP Estrella doubled on 17 points and 11 boards. In their third matchup against North Florida, the Vols kept rolling with a 99-66 win. Tennessee’s JP Estrella doubled on 23 points and 10 rebounds. Rutgers vs Tennessee Prediction

I’ll probably just stick with Tennessee. The Vols didn’t have too many difficulties against Tennessee State in their last outing. Tennessee shot 43.9 percent from the field and 31-of-35 (88.6 percent) from the line alongside a 36-26 rebounding edge and 20 team assists. If there’s a gripe to be had it was with Tennessee’s 17 turnovers. Still, it was yet another dominant double-digit win for the Volunteers, who are cruising right now.

As for Rutgers, they weren’t looking too bad until Friday’s listless loss to Central Connecticut State. Prior to that the Knights had scored 72 or more points in all four games but simply lost the handle in their most recent outing. Playing Tennessee isn’t going to be any easier.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Tennessee Volunteers -14.5
