Tennessee Volunteers Betting Preview
The Volunteers jumped out to a great 14-0 start this year, then hit a rough 3-4 run that featured losses to Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Kentucky. Tennessee would get it going with wins over Florida, Missouri and Oklahoma from there, then took a loss to Kentucky again. The Volunteers finished off with wins over Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, LSU and Alabama before taking a loss to LSU and beating South Carolina and Texas in the tournament matchups. That gives the Volunteers a 26-6 record so far this year.
On Friday versus Texas, Tennessee held a three-point edge at the break. The Volunteers surged in the second half on a 42-34 run and took the win 83-72. Leading the way in scoring was Chaz Lanier with 23 points, while Zakai Zeigler added 19 points with six assists and two steals. Jahmai Mashack put up 13 points with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in 35 minutes, and Igor Milicic had 12 points with seven rebounds, three blocks, two steals and three fouls in 31 minutes of action on the floor during the victory.

Over on the Auburn side, they’ve been pretty sharp all season—outside of a couple late losses. The Tigers opened on a 7-1 run, then hit a win streak over Richmond, Ohio State, Georgia State, Purdue, Monmouth, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma before another loss to Florida. A win streak over Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss and Kentucky came next, then consecutive losses to close out the regular season versus Texas A&M and Alabama. After their tourney win over Ole Miss, the Tigers now have a 28-4 record over 32 games this year so far.
On Friday matched up against Ole Miss, the Tigers were ahead 29-22 going into the second half. Auburn was outscored by two points the rest of the way but held on for a solid win 62-57 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Johni Broome with 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Denver Jones added 13 points with two rebounds and two assists. Miles Kelly had nine points with three rebounds, while Chad Baker-Mazara led the bench scoring with seven points and six assists alongside one steal.

Tennessee vs Auburn Prediction
I have to lean toward Auburn in this one, but it should be a great game. The Tigers bounced back well in their tournament matchup with Ole Miss on Friday following the consecutive losses to finish off the regular season. Auburn shot a solid 45.1 percent in that one with a 38-28 rebounding edge. That said, the Tigers were pretty sloppy along the way with 15 turnovers for 18 Ole Miss points. On defense Auburn held the Rebels to just 37.7 percent shooting though, so it worked out. The 62-point total however, was the Tigers’ lowest since posting 53 in a two-point win over Tennessee way back on January 25.
These teams last met back on January 25 in a 53-51 home win for Auburn. Both teams shot pretty miserably in that one (below 32 percent) and there were 23 combined turnovers. The Tigers eked out the victory thanks to a 42-37 rebounding edge but it was close the whole way. You could easily make a case for the Vols in this tournament rematch, but I’m sticking with Auburn in another fairly close finish.
