Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles Betting Preview

Tennessee Tech has been a mixed bag in the record column so far this year, and they’ve been hovering around the .500 mark for quite some time. The Eagles went just 4-7 in their first 11 outings, falling to Georgia, UT Rio Grande Valley, UCF, Vanderbilt, North Alabama, West Georgia, and Western Illinois. A win streak over Lindenwood, Milligan, Southern Indiana, Morehead State, and Eastern Illinois came next, then losses to SIU Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri State, Little Rock, and Tennessee State. The next five were wins over TN-Martin, Morehead State, Southern Indiana, and Eastern Illinois mixed with a loss to SIU Edwardsville, giving the Eagles a 13-12 overall run through 25 games.

In their Thursday matchup with Little Rock, the Golden Eagles were up 43-38 by the break but got outscored 41-32 from there during a rough loss of 79-75. Jaylon Johnson led the team with 21 points with four rebounds and seven assists in the defeat.

Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Betting Preview

Over on the Redhawks’ side, they were sitting at .500 back in late January but they’ve since enjoyed a winning streak. Southeast Missouri State went 3-6 in their first nine with wins over only Crowley’s Ridge, Central Arkansas, and Kansas City. Wins over Saint Mary of the Woods College, Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, Westminster MO, and Tennessee State came next, then a 2-4 run that featured losses to TN-Martin, Morehead State, Little Rock, and Lindenwood. Since then it’s been wins over Western Illinois, TN-Martin, Tennessee State, Morehead State, Southern Indiana, and Little Rock. The result so far has been a 16-10 overall run through 26 games so far this year for Southeast Missouri State.

In their Tuesday matchup with Little Rock, SEMO went into the locker room with a 22-16 advantage. The Redhawks posted a 35-29 run the rest of the way during a 57-45 victory. Rob Martin led the team on 17 points with three rebounds and two assists. Brendan Terry added 14 points with six rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks. Troy Cole added 10 points with three boards and three steals, while Braxton Stacker had seven bench points.

Tennessee Tech vs Southeast Missouri State Prediction

I’ll go with SEMO here. The Redhawks weren’t exactly explosive on offense during their latest win over Little Rock, but they got the job done. Southeast Missouri State shot just 33.3 percent from the field and had 12 turnovers. They held the Trojans to just 38.3 percent shooting and scored 11 points off their 18 turnovers, however. It was the first time during this six-game win streak that Southeast Missouri State has been below 72 points.

These teams last saw each other back on January 16 in a 77-70 road win for the Redhawks. Southeast Missouri State held a 33-29 rebounding edge in that one and hit 14-of-16 (87.5 percent) from the line. Both teams shot well (over 47 percent) but it was something of a sloppy game with 23 total turnovers for 34 opposition points. Southeast Missouri State should be comfortable in the home rematch, and I like them to play well on Saturday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Southeast Missouri State Redhawks -6.5
