Stony Brook Seawolves Betting Preview
The Seawolves got off to a pretty nice start this year, going 8-3 over their first 11 games. Stony Brook would lose six of the next seven outings though, falling to Albany, Marist, Hampton, William & Mary, Drexel and UNC Wilmington. Since then it’s been wins over Hofstra and Charleston. That gives the Seawolves an 11-9 record in the books over their first 20 games of the season.
In the Charleston matchup last weekend the Seawolves posted a 46-37 advantage in the first half but then lost it and had to go to overtime. Stony Brook fought through two extra periods, and when the dust settled they came away with a 112-106 victory. Erik Pratt led the team with 39 points and 13 assists with seven rebounds, while Richard Goods had 18 points with five boards and four assists.
Northeastern Huskies Betting Preview
Over on the Northeastern side, they limped to a 4-5 record over their first nine games. After that came losses in six of the next seven as the Huskies fell to Syracuse, Rhode Island, Elon, Campbell, UNC Wilmington and Towson. After a win over Elon and a loss to Monmouth the Huskies are currently sitting at 6-12 overall through their first 18 games of the season.
Matched up against Monmouth on the road Monday, the Huskies were in the locker room with a 38-30 edge. Northeastern was outscored 51-30 the rest of the way, resulting in an 81-68 loss in the end. Mike Loughnane was the top team scorer with his 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Xavier Abreu added 13 points with four rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes of work as well.

Stony Brook vs Northeastern Prediction
I’ll stick with Stony Brook. The Seawolves had a close escape at home versus Charleston in their last outing, despite shooting 52.1 percent from the field and 40 percent (16-of-40) from outside. Stony Brook gave up 47.1 percent shooting on defense and got out-rebounded 38-32 with a 40-34 deficit on points in the paint as well. The Seawolves have won consecutive games now, but that comes after a rough 1-6 stretch in December and early January.
As for Northeastern, they had a bad second half against a middling Monmouth team in their last game. The Huskies shot just 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from three-point range and had a whopping 17 turnovers along the way. Northeastern is just 1-4 in their last five games with 78 or more points allowed in all five of those outings.
