This is a Northeast Conference Tournament game. Central Connecticut is the top seed while Saint Francis is the third seed. When these two teams faced off on February 15th, it was the Blue Raiders that secured the 80–65 victory.

Saint Francis Has Played With Fire

St Francis has played with fire so far during the tournament, but they have still won each game. Against Wagner, they won 58-55, and in the last match against LIU, they won 71-68. At halftime against Long Island, they were down 38-23, but in the second half, they put up 48 points, which was enough for the win. Chirs Moncrief was the top player, putting up 20 points and three rebounds. Four different players ended up putting up 10 points. A balanced attack is going to be key.

The Red Flash have a 15-17 overall record and are 16-12-1 against the spread. The over has hit in 19 of the 29 games. St Francis is averaging 71.9 points, and their defense is giving up 72.5 points per game. The defense has been a major issue at times this season, and the last game against Central Connecticut was awful. Guard Riley Parker is averaging 13.6 points while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 39.2 Percent from behind the three-point line.

Why St Francis Will Beat Central Connecticut

  • Saint Francis has won each of its last five games against the Northeast Conference.
  • Central Connecticut has lost each of its last six Tuesday night games.

Central Connecticut Can’t Slip Up

Central Connecticut has to feel like it’s almost a shoo-in for the tournament but they can’t be overconfident in this game. The Blue Raiders have won 14 games in a row, and they have all kinds of confidence right now. In the last game against Fairleigh Dickinson, Central Connecticut scored 76 points, and they were able to secure the four-point victory. At halftime, they were up big, but in the second half, they blew it, and they needed overtime to pick up the win. Devin Haid had a strong game, putting up 29 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Central Connecticut sits with a 25-6 record overall and they have gone 20-9 against the spread. The Blue Raiders offense has been good and they are averaging 73.2 points. They feel most comfortable playing at a faster pace, and they are going to need the offense to step up in a big way again here. Guard Jordan Jones is the top player and he’s averaging 14.6 points while shooting 46.9 percent from the field.

Total Points Facts

  • Eight of Saint Francis’ last nine games have produced a total of 139+ points.
  • Seven of Central Connecticut’s last eight games against Conference opponents at William H. Detrick Gymnasium have produced a total of 136+ points

St. Francis vs Central Connecticut Prediction

Central Connecticut already dominated St Francis once this season, but this game isn’t as good. Don’t overlook this game. Saint Francis is strong, averaging 71.9 points, and they are going to have no issue running up the score here. This Central Connecticut defense has been a major issue most of the season, and they are going to really struggle again here. Saint Francis is 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games. They are going to continue that hot streak here. Back St Francis against the spread. It wouldn’t shock me if they were able to pull the upset here.

Shane Mickle's Pick: St Francis +10.5
