Southern Illinois vs Kansas City Prediction

I’ll take a stab on UMKC but you could argue this one either way. The Roos had a tough draw in their opener on the road versus Creighton this week and lost by double-digits. Kansas City ended up shooting pretty well from the field (48 percent) and was competitive on the boards with a 34-32 disadvantage. Trouble is, the Roos also shot just 57 percent (4-of-7) from the line and had a whopping 22 turnovers which kept them from sustaining any sort of momentum. In short, it wasn’t a horrible opening showing but there’s plenty to work on. UMKC should match up much better in game two.

As for Southern Illinois, they went through a routine victory on Monday versus the overmatched Maryville (MO). In that one the Salukis shot 45 percent from the field and 86 percent (6-of-7) from the line. Southern Illinois added a dominant 47-36 advantage on the boards and just nine turnovers. The Salukis will get a much better test of their skills in this one, and we’ll be able to get a clearer picture of where each team stands during the early-going.

UMKC Roos Betting Preview

Over on the Kansas City side, they had a forgettable season last year, going just 4-27 overall and 1-15 in the Summit League for a finish in the basement of the standings. The Roos lost 14 straight to end the regular season, then fell to Oral Roberts in the conference tournament.

This year Kansas City opened up their season with a matchup versus Creighton on the road at CHI Health Center Omaha on Monday. The Roos lost that one 76-61 in front of almost 16,000 people.
