Southeastern LA Lions Betting Preview

Southeastern Louisiana has completed three games so far this year—and they’re still searching for that first win. The opener was a matchup versus Ole Miss last Monday. In that one SE Louisiana was down 45-29 by the break and limped to an 88-58 road loss on a 43-29 second-half disadvantage. Leading the team in the losing effort was Jaiden Lawrence with 15 points and two boards. Also finishing in double-figures was Makhi Myles with 10 points, two rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes of action in the defeat. In game two last Friday, Southeastern LA had another road defeat—this time against Louisiana. The Lions fought back from a 34-20 halftime deficit with a 32-24 run in the second but it wasn’t enough in a 58-52 loss in the end. Leading the way in scoring was Jalen Forrest this time, posting 14 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes. Jeremy Elyzee also hit double-digits with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes during the losing effort.

Southeastern LA’s most recent outing came on Monday versus Georgia Tech. The Lions held a slim lead 31-29 by halftime, then got outscored 41-29 in the second half on a 70-60 loss. Isaiah Gaines was tops on 12 points with six rebounds. Both Jaiden Lawrence (five rebounds; one assist) and Jeremy Elyzee (four rebounds; three assists) added 10 points. Seth Jones was close to double-digits with nine points and five boards, and Jalen Forrest had nine points in the losing effort as well.

Mississippi State Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they’ve got just two games in the can this year so far. The first came last Wednesday versus North Alabama. Mississippi State had a very slim 38-37 edge at the break, but then hit their stride in the second half with a 48-25 run on the way to an 86-62 victory in the end. Topping the team in scoring was Josh Hubbard with 27 points, eight assists and one rebound in 32 minutes of work. Ja’Borri McGhee added 14 points with four rebounds, and Sergej Macura had 12 rebounds with seven points and one assist in 18 minutes for the Bulldogs’ cause during the win.

On Monday versus Iowa State in game two, the Bulldogs were blitzed 53-35 in the first half. Mississippi State got a little better from there on 45 points but still lost pretty big 96-80 in the end. Josh Hubbard led the team with his 25 points, five assists and three rebounds, while Shawn Jones added 11 points, six boards and two assists in 20 minutes of work as well.

Southeastern LA vs Mississippi State Prediction

I’ll stick with Mississippi State I suppose. It’s tough to know just what to make of the Bulldogs this year through only two games, however. In any case, Mississippi State shot well (50 percent) and rebounded well (36-27) in their latest loss to a great Iowa State team. The major issues were on turnovers (a whopping 26) and points in the paint (a 56-30 deficit). Otherwise the game would have been much, much closer. Mississippi State has a combined 166 points in two games thus far, and I’d imagine they’ll score well here also.
