Sacred Heart Pioneers Betting Preview
Sacred Heart could only win five of their first 18 games this season in a rough start. The Pioneers then won five straight Siena, Rider, Canisius, Niagara and Quinnipiac. Next came three straight losses versus Merrimack, Fairfield and Manhattan, which came ahead of wins versus Saint Mary’s and Rider. In their first 28 games of the season the Pioneers came up with a 12-16 record overall.
On Friday versus Fairfield the Pioneers were up by five points at the break 37-32. Sacred Heart hit the skids in the second half though, taking a 46-31 deficit the rest of the way during a 78-68 loss on the road. Leading the team in the losing effort was Dashon Gittens with 16 points and eight rebounds. Both Assa Essamvous (five rebounds) and Nyle Ralph-Beyer (six rebounds) had 14 points apiece.
Marist Red Foxes Betting Preview
Over on the Marist side, they posted an 8-5 run to start the year, then hit a four-game win streak in January. After losses to Merrimack and Siena came wins over Quinnipiac, Canisius, Niagara and Rider. The next three games were all losses though, as Marist fell versus Fairfield, Merrimack and Siena. In the first 26 games that would make for a 16-10 record in the books.
Matched up against Manhattan on Friday, the Foxes were able to jump out to a 42-35 advantage by halftime. Marist duplicated that score with a 43-35 second half and came away with the victory 84-70. Rhyjon Blackwell put up 22 points with five assists, and Justin Menard led the team on 30 points with three assists, two rebounds and two steals in the win.

Sacred Heart vs Marist Prediction
I’ll lean toward Sacred Heart but I’m probably not touching it. The Pioneers also need to bounce back after a rough second half in the road loss to Fairfield. In that one Sacred Heart shot 43.1 percent from the field with a 35-32 rebounding deficit and 13 turnovers. The Pioneers gave up 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) on 3-pointers as well. Sacred Heart is 2-1 in their last three games but just 2-4 in the last six.
Back on January 9 when these teams last saw each other, the Pioneers took a 76-72 loss on their home court. In that one Sacred Heart didn’t shoot terribly with 42.3 percent from the field and 86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the line. The Pioneers were blasted in the paint 44-24 and gave up 54.5 percent shooting on defense, though. The 13 turnovers didn’t help either. Sacred Heart will need to tighten up under the basket in this road rematch.
