Richmond Spiders Betting Preview
Richmond had a 13-5 record over their first 18 games this year, but then hit a losing streak in January. Those losses came versus Saint Louis, Rhode Island, George Washington, VCU, Davidson and Rhode Island. It’s been a 2-2 run since then with wins over George Mason and St. Bonaventure sandwiched around losses to VCU and Davidson for a 15-13 overall run.
In the St. Bonaventure matchup last weekend the Spiders came out of the locker room at halftime sporting a two-point deficit 46-44. Richmond woke up in the second half on a 55-48 run though, and eventually powered out a victory in comeback fashion on their home court 99-94. Leading the charge was Will Johnston with 21 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Over on the Loyola side, it’s been a rough year. The Ramblers started out on a 5-9 run then lost to Dayton, Davidson, George Washington, George Mason, Dayton, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne, Saint Joseph’s and VCU before a win over La Salle. It’s been losses to Davidson, Saint Louis, Fordham and Saint Joseph’s since then, giving the Ramblers a 6-22 overall record.
In the Saint Joseph’s rematch last Saturday the Ramblers were looking up at a 35-20 deficit on the scoreboard by halftime. Loyola got slightly better on a 41-40 advantage in the second half but it wasn’t nearly enough to prevent the double-digit loss 75-61 on the road in the end. Both Kayde Dotson and Deywilk Tavarez scored 14 points apiece in the losing effort to lead the team.

Richmond vs Loyola Prediction
I’ll stay with Richmond. The Spiders got past a decent Bonnies team in a home matchup last weekend, thanks to a nice 56.1 percent shooting and just eight turnovers. Richmond did get out-rebounded 31-24 and gave up 53 percent shooting on defense, though. The Spiders are still just 2-8 in their last 10 games, but they’ve won two of the last four at least. Richmond has fewer than 68 points in both of their last two losses.
As for Loyola, they shot a meager 36.8 percent from the field with a 34-29 rebounding deficit and a 34-20 disadvantage on points in the paint in their loss to Saint Joseph’s last Saturday. The Ramblers have won just one of their last 14 games and four straight in total. This should be a favorable matchup for Richmond, even on the road.
