The Nebraska Cornhuskers enter Tuesday night’s matchup with a 21–2 overall win-loss record, including a 10–2 mark in conference play and an undefeated 12-1 record at home. The Cornhuskers have compiled wins over Rutgers, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Illinois, Northwestern and the Pittsburgh Panthers, while dropping games to Illinois and the Michigan Wolverines. In the Nebraska Cornhuskers 72-69 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes earlier this season, Nebraska forward Rienk Mast tallied 12 points (5 of 13 shooting from the field), 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block illustrating his ability to lead the Cornhuskers frontcourt.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers average 80 points on 47.3 percent shooting from the field (52nd in country) and 35.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc per game. Defensively, the Cornhuskers are allowing opponents 66.1 points per contest which ranks 18th in the country.

Senior forward Rienk Mast leads the Nebraska Cornhuskers averaging 14.7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 0.5 steals per game. Junior forward Pryce Sandfort averages 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.1 steals per contest, while freshman forward Braden Frager provides frontcourt depth contributing 12.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1 assist per game.

Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview

The Purdue Boilermakers enter Tuesday’s contest with a 19–4 win‑loss record, including a 9–3 mark in conference play and a 5-2 record on the road. The Boilermakers have amassed wins over Oregon, Maryland, USC and the Iowa Hawkeyes, while losing recent games to Indiana, Illinois and the UCLA Bruins. More recently, in the Purdue Boilermakers 68–64 win over Oregon, Purdue guard Braden Smith accumulated 13 points (5 of 12 shooting from the field), 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.

The Purdue Boilermakers average 83 points (37th in the nation) on 51 percent shooting from the field (10th in country) and 38.5 percent shooting from three-point range per game. Shifting our focus to the defensive side of the basketball, the Boilermakers are allowing 68.7 points per contest.

Guard Braden Smith leads the Purdue Boilermakers averaging 15.2 points, 8.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Senior forward Trey Kaufman‑Renn provides the Boilermakers with a strong presence in the paint averaging 12.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists and 1 steal per contest.

Why the Nebraska Cornhuskers will win

• Home court edge. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have compiled a 12-1 record at home this season.

• Elite defense. Defensively, the Cornhuskers are allowing opponents 66.1 points which ranks 18th in the country.

• Balanced scoring. Rienk Mast, Pryce Sandfort, and Braden Frager are averaging over 12.2 points per game.

Why the Purdue Boilermakers will win

• Quality offense. The Purdue Boilermakers average 83 points (37th in the nation) on 51 percent shooting from the field (10th in country) per game.

• Guard production. Senior guard Braden Smith leads the Purdue backcourt averaging 15.2 points, 8.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.

• Frontcourt play.  Senior forward Trey Kaufman‑Renn averages 12.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest.

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Prediction

This matchup features the Purdue Boilermakers elite offense and Braden Smith’s backcourt playmaking against a Nebraska Cornhuskers team that has fielded one of the most consistent defensive teams in the country all season. Additionally, Purdue’s recent inconsistency make the Boilermakers difficult to trust on the road, especially against a Cornhuskers team that has been dominant at home in 2025. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Nebraska Cornhuskers to win this game and cover the 1.5 points.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Nebraska -1.5
