Over on the Rattlers’ side, they went 0-5 to star the year. Next came three consecutive wins, however. Losses to Tarleton State, TCU, Georgia Tech and Bethune-Cookman came after that, then wins over Southern, Grambling, AR-Pine Bluff, MS Valley State and Alcorn State. The next three were losses to Jackson State, Alabama A&M and Alabama State, giving the Rattlers an 8-12 run through their first 20 outings.

In the second half the Rattlers hit a 32-26 deficit and ended up taking the loss at home in the end 62-57. Micah Octave put up 18 points with 10 rebounds and Antonio Baker added 11 points with three rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes on the floor.

The Panthers didn’t shoot well from the field (38.6 percent) or 3-point range (14.3 percent on 3-of-21) in their road loss to Bethune-Cookman over the weekend, and added a 50-36 rebounding deficit as well. Prairie View has won just one of their last six games, giving up 76 or more points in all of those outings.
As for Florida A&M, they shot a miserable 33.3 percent from the field with 14 turnovers and a 24-18 deficit in the paint during their latest loss to Texas Southern. The Rattlers are on a four-game skid themselves, scoring fewer than 67 points in all four of those defeats.
