Prairie View A&M Panthers Betting Preview
The Panthers kicked off their season with eight wins in their first 17 outings on the schedule. A pretty bad 1-7 run followed, featuring a lone win over Texas Southern on January 31. After that came a 7-1 stretch for the Panthers though; they’ve taken out Grambling, Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State, Alcorn State, Texas Southern, Alcorn State again and Bethune-Cookman for a 16-17 record this year.
In the tournament matchup versus Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday the Panthers were all tied up 32-32 as they came back out on the floor for the second half. Prairie View hit a 39-35 run the rest of the way, eventually powering out the upset win 71-67. Dontae Horne was the team’s leading scorer with his 30 points, while Cory Wells added 22 points with 10 boards for a double-double.
Alabama A&M Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they were sitting at 12-9 overall on the season back on January 31. Alabama A&M lost to Bethune-Cookman and Southern in the next pair, then beat Grambling, MS Valley State, AR-Pine Bluff and Florida A&M. It’s been a 2-3 run since then with losses to Bethune-Cookman, Alabama State and Southern among wins over Grambling and Texas Southern.
Matched up against Texas Southern in tournament play on Thursday the Bulldogs were down 31-27 by the end of the first half. Alabama A&M fought back from there on a 39-35 run and forced overtime. Following the extra period Alabama A&M emerged with an 85-74 victory. Koron Davis put up 24 points with six rebounds and two assists while Bilal Abdur-Rahman had 19 points.
Prairie View vs Alabama A&M Prediction
I’m going to take a stab on Prairie View. The Panthers are hot right now, and coming off a nice win over B-CU. In that one Prairie View shot 49.1 percent from the field and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from 3-point range while bagging 14 points off 12 Wildcats turnovers. It wasn’t perfect though, as Prairie View missed nine of 20 free throws (55 percent) and got outscored in the paint 46-32. Still, the Panthers have won seven of the last eight games, scoring 70 or more points in six of those.
These teams last saw each other back on January 27 in an 80-60 home loss for the Panthers. In that one Prairie View shot an ugly 36.4 percent from the field and 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from outside. The Panthers gave up 53.4 percent shooting on defense while getting outscored in the paint 48-34. Prairie View is playing well these days however, and this is a perfect chance to show their stuff.
