Pitt Panthers Betting Preview
The Panthers have had a pretty choppy year overall. Pitt opened the season on a 9-12 stretch over their first 21 outings, then lost to Clemson, Virginia, SMU, Duke and North Carolina in the next five. It’s been a 3-2 run since then with wins over Notre Dame, California and Syracuse among losses to Stanford and Florida State. That gives the Panthers a 12-19 overall record this year.
On Saturday in the Syracuse game, the Panthers were in the locker room nursing a 31-28 disadvantage. Pittsburgh fought back on a 37-34 run the rest of the way however, and forced overtime. Following the extra period the Panthers emerged with a 71-69 victory on the road in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Cameron Corhen with 21 points, one rebound and one assist. Barry Dunning added 17 points with six rebounds and two steals in the victory.
Stanford Cardinal Betting Preview
Over on the Stanford side, they opened the year with a 14-4 stretch in their first 18 games, then took losses to Duke, Cal, Miami, Florida State and Clemson after that. The Cardinal are 6-2 in the last eight games though, taking out Georgia Tech, Boston College, Pittsburgh, SMU, Notre Dame and NC State in that time. Over 31 total games that gives the Cardinal a 20-11 overall run.
In the NC State matchup back on Saturday the Cardinal were up by three points 37-34 as they headed back out onto the court for the second half. Stanford hit a 50-48 deficit the rest of the way but managed to hang on for the road victory 85-84 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Ebuka Okorie with 33 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in the winning effort.

Pittsburgh vs Stanford Prediction
I’ll stick with Stanford. The Cardinal had a close escape versus NC State over the weekend despite posting a nice 48.5 percent shooting from the field, 33 rebounds and a 40-36 advantage on points in the paint. Stanford gave up 48.1 percent shooting on the other side though, and got burned by a pretty good shooting performance at the line (25-of-34 for 73.5 percent) by the Wolfpack. Stanford has won four straight games now, and they’ve scored 85 or more points in each of the last three.
These teams last met up back on February 25 in a 75-67 home win for Stanford. In that one the Cardinal shot a nice 50 percent from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 at the line with a 28-26 rebounding advantage and a 42-24 edge in the paint. Stanford did give up 49 percent shooting on defense though, so they’ll want to focus on getting that number down in this tournament rematch.
