The Ducks were able to win their first four games of the season, then fell versus Auburn, San Diego State, Creighton, USC and UCLA in succession. Oregon took out UC Davis, Portland, Omaha and Maryland (with a loss to Gonzaga) over the next five games. After two more losses to Rutgers and Ohio State, the Ducks have managed a .500 record through their first 16 games at 8-8 overall.

The Ducks couldn’t get any closer than that in a 38-33 run the rest of the way, ultimately taking a 72-62 loss. The Cornhuskers have been on a great run so far this year. They’re without a blemish in 16 games. Nebraska has taken out West Georgia, Florida International, MD Eastern Shore, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas State, Winthrop, USC Upstate, Creighton, Wisconsin, Illinois, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Michigan State, Ohio State and Indiana in succession during that time.

Why the Nebraska Cornhuskers will win

Oregon vs Nebraska Prediction

I’m going to stick with Nebraska. The Cornhuskers have been great so far this year, and they’re coming off a nice road win over a good Indiana team—despite a slow start. Nebraska shot 48.3 percent from the field in that one with 41.2 percent (14-of-34) from outside and just seven turnovers. The Cornhuskers were competitive both on the boards and in the paint, which helped power out the road victory (Indiana’s 13 turnovers didn’t hurt either). Nebraska has scored very well this year with a nice 69 or more points in all but one game.

As for Oregon, they shot just 32.8 percent from the field and 23.3 percent (7-of-30) from outside in their loss to Ohio State—not to mention the 37-28 rebounding deficit and 34-24 deficit on points in the paint. The Ducks are 2-3 in their last five games now, with fewer than 65 points scored in two of the last three.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Nebraska Cornhuskers -11.5
