The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles come into the 2025-26 season looking to shake off a frustrating 2024-25 season where they finished 7-23 overall including 3-13 in Summit League play, with their season ending early with a first round Summit League Tournament loss against Kansas City. Now It’s Kory Barnett’s turn to take over at ORU, after coaching for the majority of his career under Steve Alford at UCLA and Nevada. It’s a pretty much retooled roster for ORU, with Luke Gray as the only returning starter for Oral Roberts after logging 3.4 PPG in 11.1 MPG. Barnett’s relying on a ton of transers like Ty Harper from Youngstown State, Lane Sparks and Landen Jordan each from the NAIA ranks and Aaron Jacob from D-II. The Golden Eagles will need some time to be competitive once again, but I think Barnett can at least get the ship steered in the right direction.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Recap
The Oklahoma State Cowboys come into the 2025-26 season looking to build after a 17-18 overall mark and a 7-13 record in Big 12 play in 2024-25. OK State would be bounced early by Cincinnati in the first round of the Big 12 tournament, but the record was enough for OK State to make the NIT, where they took down Wichita State and SMU before losing to North Texas. One of the key returning pieces is Andrija Vukovic, who confirmed his return and gives Oklahoma State some front-court size and continuity. The departing pieces really put a damper on this Cowboys team, as Bryce Thompson, Abou Ousmane and Arturo Dean all moved on, leaving much of the scoring and leadership void. Meanwhile, the Cowboys aggressively reloaded via the portal with significant additions including Kanye Clary from Mississippi State, Jaylen Curry from UMass, Christian Coleman from UAB, Parsa Fallah from Oregon State and incoming greek freshman Lefteris Mantzoukas to help the cause.
