Old Dominion has been pretty busy so far this year; they’ve got seven games in the bag already. The Monarchs kicked things off on a 2-1 run with a loss to Miami-OH in the opener followed by wins over Randolph and Norfolk State. Old Dominion would lose their next two versus George Washington and Xavier, then took out Morgan State in blowout fashion 88-56 during game six.
In Sunday’s matchup versus Drexel, Old Dominion fell back into the loss column. The Monarchs went into the locker room with a 35-34 deficit and ended up losing 75-71 after giving up 40 more points from there. Tops on the team was Jordan Battle with 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Robert Davis added 15 points and three assists, while LJ Thomas had 13 points in 24 minutes of work.
Villanova Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Villanova side, they’ve been a little less active so far with only five games in the books. The Wildcats lost a tough one versus a good BYU team in their opener, then beat Queens NC by 20 in game two. The next pair were wins for Villanova as well; they took out Sacred Heart on November 11 and followed that up with a 10-point win over Duquesne.
Game five was another victory for Villanova, making it four in a row. The Wildcats were up on La Salle 37-28 at halftime and closed on a 33-27 run for a 70-55 win in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the victory was Matt Hodge with 17 points and three boards. Tyler Perkins added 13 points with five rebounds and three assists, and Acaden Lewis had 12 points with six assists and four rebounds in the winning effort for the Wildcats.

I’ll just stick with Villanova. The Wildcats didn’t have too many issues versus La Salle in their last game, shooting a nice 51.9 percent from the field and 32 percent (8-of-25) from 3-point range. Villanova had a 32-26 rebounding edge and outscored the Explorers in the paint 40-34. The Wildcats have scored 70 or more points in each of the last four games (all wins) with 87 or more in three of those outings.
As for Old Dominion, they couldn’t quite keep pace with Drexel in their latest loss. The Monarchs shot pretty well from the floor (43.5 percent) and outside (47.1 percent on 8-of-17) but hit just nine of 16 free throws (56.3 percent) and got outmuscled on the boards 36-29. ODU has a nice 69 or more points in four straight games though, so I could see them keeping a reasonable pace in this one if all goes well. It’s probably the Wildcats’ game to control, however.
