Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview
The Sooners were able to match their 20-win total from the 2023-24 campaign last year, ultimately going 20-14 overall. Oklahoma had a rough 6-12 record in a very tough and competitive Southeastern Conference though, resulting in a finish ahead of only LSU and South Carolina in the standings. The Sooners didn’t look terrible heading into the postseason after consecutive wins over Missouri and Texas, then beat Georgia in the opener of the conference tournament. Following a game two loss to Kentucky, Oklahoma got a berth in the NCAA Tournament where they fell in the First Round versus UConn.
This year Oklahoma opened up their season with a matchup at home versus St. Francis. The Sooners had a dangerous one-point lead at halftime, then woke up after the break on a 57-22 run on the way to a 102-66 blowout victory. Topping the scorers was Kuol Atak with 18 points, while Mohamed Wague doubled up on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both Xzavier Brown (six assists) and Nijel Pack (three rebounds) finished with 16 points as well during the win.
Gonzaga Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they failed to reach the 27-win heights of the 2023-24 campaign last year—but only by one game. Gonzaga landed at 26-9 overall with a 14-4 run in the West Coast Conference. That would put the team behind only Saint Mary’s in the standings—the Gaels were a nice 17-1. Heading into the conference tournament on a 7-1 run however, Gonzaga would get their revenge. The team took out both San Francisco and Saint Mary’s in a championship stretch, then beat Georgia in the First Round of the national tournament. The Second Round was a loss to Houston on March 22 however, ending the Bulldogs’ campaign.
This year Gonzaga kicked things off with a matchup versus Texas Southern at home. The Bulldogs cruised in that one, turning a 46-27 halftime lead into a 98-43 blowout win after a 52-16 run from there. Leading the way was Tyon Grant-Foster with 15 points and five rebounds, while Braden Huff added 14 points and five rebounds. Graham Ike doubled up in the win with 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes of work on the court.

Oklahoma vs Gonzaga Prediction
I’ll stick with Gonzaga. The Bulldogs did what they were supposed to do in an easy opener matchup versus Texas Southern, bagging 53.6 percent shooting, 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the line, a 50-23 rebounding edge and a 56-22 advantage in the paint. Gonzaga held the Tigers to just 25.4 percent shooting on the other side as well in a solid overall blowout effort.
As for Oklahoma, they got off to a pretty rough start in their win over Saint Francis. That said, the Sooners found their groove in the second half and eventually shot a nice 55.7 percent from the field with a 39-22 rebounding advantage. Oklahoma notched 23 team assists and just 11 turnovers as well while taking the points advantage in the paint 54-36. The Sooners certainly need to avoid a slow start here, which may be a lot to ask in a tough matchup on the road. In the end I like Gonzaga to power out the cover but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Oklahoma hang around for most of the game.
