Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Preview

The Cowboys got off to a very nice start this year, posting wins in each of their first nine games. After their first defeat by Oklahoma in a home matchup on December 13, Oklahoma State has gone 5-3 in their last eight. The wins during that time have come courtesy of Kansas City, CSU Fullerton, Bethune-Cookman and UCF. Over the first 18 games of the season that gives the Cowboys a 14-4 overall record.

In the Kansas State matchup over the weekend the Cowboys entered the second half with a relatively slim 48-43 advantage. Oklahoma State was outscored 40-36 the rest of the way but still eked out an 84-83 home win in the end. Anthony Roy led the team on his 23 points and two rebounds while Parsa Fallah had 17 points with nine rebounds. Kanye Clary had 12 points with six assists and three rebounds as well.

TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview

Over on the TCU side, they got off to a 5-3 run over their first eight games this year, falling to New Orleans, Michigan and Notre Dame. After wins over North Texas, Incarnate Word, Oral Roberts, Florida A&M, Jackson State and Baylor, TCU has since lost to Kansas, Arizona, BYU and Utah, giving the Horned Frogs an 11-7 record this year so far through their opening 18 games.

In the road game versus Utah on Saturday, the Frogs were down by eight points 38-30 going into the second half. TCU got better from there and made a game of it with a 49-44 advantage but couldn’t complete the comeback in an 82-79 defeat. David Punch led the team on 22 points with six rebounds. The only other team player in double-digits was Micah Robinson with 14 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Oklahoma State vs TCU Prediction

I’ll take a stab on TCU, but you could make a good case either way. The Frogs took another road loss over the weekend, this time versus a middling Utah squad. TCU shot 50 percent from the field in that one but missed a few free throws (15-of-22 for 68.2 percent) and had a 33-27 rebounding deficit. The Frogs have lost four straight games now, three being against ranked squads and three being on the road. Comparatively speaking this is a more manageable home matchup that TCU needs to take advantage of.

As for Oklahoma State, they gave up 50 percent shooting versus Kansas State in their weekend matchup but had a good day at the line (20-of-24 for 83.3 percent) to make up for it. The Cowboys are just 2-3 in their last five outings but to be fair they’ve played three ranked teams in that time. We should have a pretty entertaining matchup on Tuesday regardless.

Andrew Jett's Pick: TCU Horned Frogs -8.5
